I'm surprised at the number of people stating that, if these allegations turn out to be true, it won't affect their opinions of him or whether they'd vote for him.mattbbplEither they really think he can beat Obama or they really do not like Romney.

I don't think this is a founded assumption whatsoever. I sure have never sexually harrased anybody.
Me neither. Bucked20, have you? That's a really weird thing to say.
Hmmmmmm kinda sorta

I guess. You'd think something like this (again, assuming it turns out to be true) would be an instant turn-off for most people. Instead, I've been hearing a lot of talk regarding how people would still vote for him because it wouldn't affect how he we perform as president, which seems like a pretty large stretch of a rationalization to me.

If Cain does indeed flameout because of this, which i think he will, Gingrich has the most to gain. If that indeed happens, it will probably be brought up in debates.[QUOTE="mattbbpl"] I guess. Exactly.
This has been a rather weird race.
Sharon Bialek, the first accuser to break silence, is currently holding a news conference at the moment.
It would be better for the victims if they got rid of Allred. She tends to hog the camera to herself for self-aggrandizement, which detracts from the real issues.Uh oh, Gloria Allred showed up. If this wasn't a media circus before, it certainly is now.

the only guy talking about real issues and not who's penis wants to go where or how man of "those" people X has employed over the years, and let us not forget the old chestnut "how many kids i have".
So a woman just came forward. And she's got that infamous womens defense attorney Gloria something or another representing her.
She has no proof, just a he said/she said kind of thing, and never reported it to the Police. Even if she was telling the truth, there's no way she can prove it. So obviously it can't be held against Herman Cain.

Well, no, she hasn't proven it and probably won't, but the allegation itself is rather damaging. I mean, the allegations have ramped up a notch from sexual harrassement to sexual assault.

Severance packages aren't settlements.

So when the media outlets report the sums of money they got as settlements, they're lying?
$45,000 dollars seems like quite alot for just "severance pay".

But they do pretty much the same thing, as in pay someone off and shut them up. Which is always the act of an innocent party :roll:Wouldn't shock me a bit. Though I must admit the main reason why I want Cain to go down in the polls is so Romney can win the nomination. Won't matter to America though since Obama or Romney will keep the same policies and screw up the country. Can't help but wonder if a fifth accuser is going to surface.

Hell I was thinking JFK.Cain is a moron, it absolutely surprises me how he could ever be considered a top contender or why, for some reason or another, there are people out there that support him. He doesn't know how to speak, he doesn't know where he stand on positions, he has almost no experience, he's constantly correcting himself, and now this. ferrari2001
All of the same things could be said about Obama.

I think the experience is the only real argument you could make against Obama, you know, before he became president that is.Girl who struggled financially is now in the spotlight. I actually don't wish that at all. I like Herman Cain.

Oh, and also (by coincidence of course) she just happened to live in the same building as David Axelrod. All this combined with hiring Gloria Allred means her credibility is DOA.
I think its a baseless accusation because usually there is evidence for sexual harrassment or worse. So far its just random people claiming Cain hit on them without any evidence. Also, lets not forget that quite a few government officials were doing more than just sexual harrassment and weren't on the news until it was proven without a doubt. I'm giving Cain the benefit of the doubt because I'm well aware that people will exploit any loopholes in the system.

What would you like him to say about confidential agreements that he wasn't a party to or a signatory in anyway?:?
Another profile of one of the accusers, a current employee of the Obama administration. I honestly had to double check to see if this was a satirical site like The Onion.

Usually some sort of evidence? Like what? Outside of witnesses to the event, most cases of this sort of mainly verbal harassment always relies on the accusations of the 'victim' vs. the accused. I mean if it did play out as the 4th accuser said it did, alone in a car with nothing more than a few words and touching, what proof could she possibly have? Just because no one else was there to see it, or there are no pictures, video or witnesses doesn't mean it didn't take place. So you have to rely on what both parties say, and it isn't looking too good for Cain who has 4 accusers, one of which was paid off with a severance package and shut up with a confidentiality agreement and on top of it all he started his defense against these women by lying and acting like he had no clue only to turn around and acknowledge something involving harassment had taken place.I think its a baseless accusation because usually there is evidence for sexual harrassment or worse. Could be, but my take is Romney is more concerned about the effect on the race. Too much attention is on this, when voters should be examining the candidates' stand on issues. Thus, Cain should drop out so things can return to normal - and this will just drag on until he does drop out.Could be, but my take is Romney is more concerned about the effect on the race. The effect on the race being Herman Cain failing to maintain a competitive number of votes relative to Romney. What Cain should do isn't necessarily what Cain will do. Same goes for Romney. I imagine them both being primarily concerned with winning the nomination. Diverting attention from the issues in this instance benefits Romney.
