Anyone know how to gain weight in a healthy manner. I increased my calorie intake from 2800 to 3200 about two and a half weeks ago, but I've only gained 1 pound. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

Nobody knows how to put on weight like a sumo wrestler...

Wake up before dawn. Eat a light breakfast. Train for 5 hours to build up an appetite. Eat a huge lunch. Take a nap right after eating.

A pound a week is a healthy gain in a week. What you can do is up your caloric intake, sleep more and train as hard as you can (strength training). I'm assuming you want to gain muscle mass.

If you excercise cut down on cardio and start weight training more. Also, up your protein intake. Eat approx. 1g of protein/pound you want to weigh. For example, I weigh 205 and eat around 205g of protein/day.

I'm currently working on moving up weight as well. I started eating 6-8 portions of carbs/protiens a day as well as 2-4 portions of vegetables a day. Also an important tip is to not overtrain, work as hard as you can at the gym every 2 days or split up upper/lower body. I also use acompetitionlegalweight gainer shake called mutant mass that has helped wonders.

DO stuff your face, but that is not the solution. The reason why well off people like you and I are underweight in the first place is not because we don't eat enough, it's because of high metabolism. How to beat high metabolism? Don't let it burn off your fat - turn fat into muscle. Eat proteins and life weights.

Eat a steak, followed by a hamburger smoothie, three times a day, you'll be fat in no time.

1) Eat more, more often 2) Increase strength training 3) Decrease Cardio 4) Rest These are the 4 keys to successful weight gain. I managed to put on ~20 pounds in 10 weeks using this formula. I would wake up in the middle of the night to eat. I would wake up and eat, I would eat and eat. Lots of protein, Lots of carbs. Then I would work out twice a day, usually for more then 2 hours each session. This would def be over training for most, so I wouldn't suggest it, but if you can do it then go for it. I decreased my cardio work but I didn't eliminate it. I did at least 1 hour of cardio a day during one of my workouts. The rest of my time was spent resting and sleeping and more of the latter then anything. After 10 weeks I had to go into an 'off season'.

Oh, how I envy you. Eat many deserts if you like to get fat.magicalclick
It doesn't work that way, his body will just burn it off. The trick is to increase calorie intake (and not unhealthy stuff) + exercising. It's just as hard as weight-losing.

Play World of Warcraft.Cone_Zone

haha, this is actually the cause for me being underweight. I would usually eat sweets in order to keep me up. I slept2-4 hours a night for over 3 months and lost 25 pounds. I'm clean now though so now I have tons of time to work on my body

When I used to play I lost about 10 pounds because I sat at my computer for hours at a time, forgetting that I was hungry :P. Im really glad I traded in World of Warcraft for Xbox Live and Gamespot Forums :P.

ifd your extra calories are coming from mcdonalds and junk food, you're not helping. MEAT MEAT MEAT, PASTA PASTA PASTA and lots of supplements. there's something that you mix into drinks for bodybuilding that's chocolate flavor and that'll help you gain weight.

1. Eat a lot of carbs. Make sure lunch always has a bit of bread, but more importantly, eat a lot of rice and/or mashed potatos/potatos in general for dinner. Seriously, a good amount of rice/potatoes every day. 2. Work out at least three times a week, but NO cardio. Just do weight training. I think low rep/high weight might be the way to go.

You should do a bit of cardio even if you are trying to put on weight. Usually 25-30 mins of cardio just once a week is good enough. I usually just play basketball or hit the punching bag for my cardio during the week for right now while I am bulking.

Fats are ok if you are taking in the right kinds. People always think fats are bad, when some are not. You can get healthy fats from things like nuts, fish, eggs, and some other sources.

Im just like you TC, my body can burn all my fat in a matter of blink. a 2 months of work into gaining weight could be all lost for a few days. Also, even when I do continue in my "eat as much as you can" order I could be still losing weight

You see, the best of us has a certain amount of body fat that is considered standard and that's where we stop if you are not working to gain weight

The only way I could gain weight was using the "sumo wrestler" idea, just like someone mentioned in 1st page. Consists of heavy exercise during the morning ( I usally go surfing from 7am to 1pm) and then eat all you want all day, and believe me you will want to eat a lot, and the best part of being us, we never really get obese, we just get stronger
