Not enough evidence and beliving something a book tells you seems plain idiotic. I mean by that logic Harry Potter is a real person, unicorns exist, and Chuck Norris really can shoot down a German fighter plane just by pointing to it and shouting "bang!".LAZZOR
But he can!
You made this thread like a week ago. Same exact thing, almost. And it's not like you had a shortage of replies, because I remember it being a pretty active thread.
And after a week, my answer stays the same. Not enough evidence.

my bad :P

Apathy FTW!
well I meant the thread but what you thought is not too far either...
What initially destroyed my faith as a child was a vague variation of the problem of evil. I essentially felt like a God who said "Worship Me or go to hell for all time" was at best a bully and not deserving of my devotion.xaos
I couldn't have said it any better. That is what initially made me really start to wonder. Anything or anyone that tells me i have to believe in something or else i will be damned to eternal hell, doesn't get my respect.
Because the scientific theories make more sense to me than god/s. Plus it's all about faith, no proof.
Nah just kidding, I ofcourse meant to say the devil corrupted my mind.
Just throwing this out their, if there was a big bang that created the world then what caused the big bang? I don't know if atheists believe the same theory as scientologists but thats something to think about :D.

well what are you? And a good point indeed...

Read up on the theory a little more and you'll realize your question doesn't make much sense.
This is far from the subject of this thread but the theory is that our universe is a vacuum fluctuation (an observed phenomenon verified to exist) which underwent inflation due to negative energy pressure (a theoretically consistent but not observed phenomenon). This model accounts for a number of features regarding the consistency of the cosmic microwave background and the large scale distribution of matter of the universe, though it's unclear how it can ever be definitively verified.Just throwing this out their, if there was a big bang that created the world then what caused the big bang? He fell for the trap you had set, you could have had a better response than that. Why'd you post in it then?

How was it a trap... I've posted in other threads and I'm very Christian... they knew what they were getting into...

I remember that too! My mom said that it was a consequence of not worshipping him and not the action of the god, to which I replied "But isn't he all powerful? Wouldn't that mean he could choose whether or not we go to our eternal pain?"

same here
if he's perfect, why is he so vane? And if he loves all of us from day one, how could he allow more the half the worlds population to burn in hell for simply growing up non-Christian. I wouldnt have had a problem if the whole hell thing was only temporary. like if you kill someone you get 100 years to think about what you did....while burning
but no. its ETERNITY. damn near nothing anyone can possibly do is worth an ETERNITY of suffering
the more i thought about it the more i just realized that the whole hell thing was just a sales pitch to scare people into believing.
faith and that just never stuck with me i would need some evidence in order to believe in such fairly tales and the scientific of how we came to be just has way more evidence than religion.
I dont need to blindly believe in such things, and i have not had any curses or benifits from it...
lol the george carlin bit on religion is great (start worshiping the sun  )

I've posted in other threads and I'm very Christian... they knew what they were getting into...battlefront23I just mean what do you do with a thread like this, the only real way you can start any kind of ongoing discussion is by trolling which is probably unintentional and most likely it'll just go on to some other subject that doesn't have to do with what was started.

Yeah, like we haven't seen that question here before at least a few doezen times in the last couple of months...
Seriously, that question gets thrown around and people expect an answer, but the truth is, there is no answer, not for either side of God or Big Bang, or what have you. So why do people still bother asking it if a bunch of guys on an internet board don't know for sure? It gets annoying after awhile.
saying there is not enough evidence is stupid...there isn't enough evidence to disprove the existence of god either...I am not an atheist...I believe there is a god, but I don't think that god cares about us...fat_robThat's an odd claim to me; there also isn't evidence to disprove that millions of invisible fat purple fairies are flitting around all over the place, but that alone does not make invisble fat purple fairies a viable belief. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.well, there is a huge difference between god and invisible fat fairies...first off, god has aspects that make it have an impact on the natural world (people claim god does certain things) and the natural world is testable against itself...just on that alone it is foolish to say that there isn't enough evidence for god, because the things a god would do, do not have full natural explinations yet...true, it is a god of the gaps argument, but when saying there isn't enough evidence for god, it is important to show that there isn't enough evidence to rule out god either...
