So I've been a fan of comics for quite awhile but I can never seem to get into the habit of picking up the ones I want from month to month to keep up. I just got the last two Batman issues, 683 and 684, and, while the art and actual writing was good, I can't stand the fact that a) I feel like Im years behind the story and b) I felt more lost than I did when I started reading.

Then I compare this to my last two graphic novel purchases, Identity Crisis and Batman: Broken City. These graphic novels allowed me to enjoy the comics and characters I wanted in a complete package with no strings left in the end. As well, I didn't feel like these were some cheap spinoffs from the actual comic stories as they were the actual comics collected in the right order.

Quite frankly, I barely even felt the cost of the two graphic novels ($30 total) as they we're very enjoyable...but the $6 spent on the last two issues of Batman felt like wasting 100 bucks...To be honest, I think Im off monthly issues and I'm goin after the graphic novels. So am I crazy, lazy, or does anyone else feel like I do?

Grant Morrison Batman RIP was a bit of a let down

But we will find out about Batman in final crisis

My guess is Bats is gonna take a break and NightWing will become the new batman

also if you want the best DC has to offer look no further then Green Lantern and Green Lantern corps

Some of the best writing in comics

Nothing wrong with that. I only buy comics in collected issue graphic novel format. Not only do they contain whole story arcs, but they are easier to maintain and cheaper in the long run.

Grant Morrison likes to confuse people, I think. I was able to follow most of RIP but for the life of me I can't figure out those two issues.

I gave up on grant morrison after his X-Men run. It was some of the best comic storylines ever until the last story arc when Xorn was Magneto yada yada whatever. Totally ruined a good thing. I think he is too worried with his own image, and trying to write the "ultimate" story for any book he works on,that he ends up throwing continuity and simple yet good story telling out the window. So he ends up with awesome runs until the end then he ruins everything.

ha...I thought I was gonna be flamed, guess my feelings are quite universal. But yeah, I was able to pick up a few back issues and such before, but this time it was a huge curve ball. As well, I hate it when one story arc continues in a series I don't at all collect and the ones I do collect just pick up some other story. I can't really remember the last time I picked up just one, new issue to find it the beginning of a new story. I guess more and more reasons to buy the collections.
