Tommorrow is my court day because I got a speeding ticket.
What happens if the cop doesn't show up ? does that mean my ticket is missed ?
Is it a real court like people sit there and watch me ? I'm kind of nervous

umm I should break his legs or flat his cars tires
Then the cop is definitely gonna get you back lol. Most cops don't come because they think you will just pay the ticket, you may get lucky. My cop showed up to court about a parking ticket but I owned him. Speeding tickets are more tricky though.
what happens if I say the cop was lying or he beat me up because he had sunglasses and he thought i'm dark skin ?
Is there anyway to get rid of that piece of garbage
Hydrolex
The cop has the home advantage here. Sorry. If your gonna try and pull the racist trick out of the bag, prepare for some serious heat.
ok what happens if I don't show up in the court ? can I just send the ticket with money ?
WTF !!!!!!!!!!!! Any discounts for students ?
Hydrolex
Lol, sorry bud, I didn't even know they held court for speeding tickets.
But I just wanted to say, The Game is awesome =P

It isn't your standard court appearance. Not like on TV. It's a quick process. They only have court for a ticket if you appeal it...I believe.

if you dont show up they could charge you the ticket plus court costs.
More than likely they could issue a Bench Warrant with your name on it. Which is not good my friend.
It depends on where you life though so I cant say what will happen exactly. Just show up.

if you dont show up you get a warrant and they come get you.
I don't know how it is wherever you live (I'm not American, which I can only assume you are) but I'm not sure the cop has to even be there. If you were speeding admit to it and pay the fine, if you weren't then you better have some damn proof or you'll just get found guilty and have to pay the fine, or drag it out longer than you should costing everyone money.DigitalExile
No I just want some discounts because I'm a student. I'll tell the judge that school is coming up and I need new underwears and new clothes

you cant talk a bunch of bs to a judge the way you can to teachers and parents. they dont buy that garbage. they will say something like: "You should have thought of that before speeding."

you really should have thought of this before now dude.
I dont think they take cheques. But they might.
Look on the ticket and read it. all of it. look for info on payments and any other instructions.
Generally you pay the people who issued you the ticket. I.E. County/City municipalities.
just read the ticket.

Depends on the state. In my state (virginia), if you get a ticket, and you are under 18, by law you MUST appear in front of a judge with a parent.Be respectful and quiet. Say you learned your lesson, and are prepared for any punishment. And don't talk too much. Address them as "Your Honor"helium_flash
It's just a speeding ticket. Unless he was going SUPER fast, he's probably just going to court in order to dispute it. If he wasn't going to dispute it, then he wouldn't have to go to court at ALL. He'd just send a check in the mail, and that'd be the end of it.
I once got convicted of an actual CRIME that way. I was canoeing on a river with some friends, and we were drinking beer. You know, not causing trouble or anything, just floating down the river with some beers. Anyway, at one point we stopped and I had a beer in my hand, and then a park ranger walked up to me, and wrote me a ticket. Because the river was in a state park, and it's against the law to drink alcoholic beverages in a state park. So later I get a letter in the mail saying that I have to show up in court at such and such a date. But they also gave me an option of NOT showing up in court, and just sending them a check for $100, even though doing that would be the same as pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge.
But I figured it wasn't worth it to even bother showing up to dispute the charges. I got caught, so what was I gonna do, dispute the charges? I figured I'd get convicted, then my punishment would be having to pay the $100 ticket. So I figured that I'd might as well skip all that by just sending the check in the mail and then not have to bother wasting my time in court.
The only downside is that I'm now technically a convicted criminal. So anytime I apply for a job, my employer will ask me if I've ever been convicted of a crime. And I have to say yes. Then they ask me what I did, and I say "well, one time I was canoeing on the river, and I drank a beer." And they give me a look like, "wow, you're such a rebel. " If I have to admit to being a convicted criminal, I almost wish that it was actually a real crime like grand theft auto or dealing drugs. I just feel like such a poser saying, "yeah, I'm a criminal. I once drank a beer on a river."

Dude, it's just a speeding ticket. Just pay it and be done with it. Is a speeding ticket really worth getting so worked up over?
Hey, I was just in court on Monday for a speeding ticket. :)
101 in a 55. (MPH)

That's insane.
And someone correct me on my numbers, but I'm pretty sure that when you're driving THAT MUCH over the limit, you HAVE to go to court. When you're going almost 50 mph over the speed limit, sending a check in the mail won't cut it. Can't they actually revoke your license and send you to prison for that?

Sure can! I was "technically" arrested, but the cop let me go on the scene and I didn't have to go through the whole process.
He slapped me with a reckless driving charge (misdemeanor), and a regular speeding ticket.
I got myself a lawyer and worked it all down so that the misdemeanor was completely dropped and the speeding ticket went from a 101/55 to an 80/55.
$665 for that ticket.
