sorry, dude. Braces suck, just pray you don't need a bite plate. I won't go into detail, but trust me, you don't want one.

Thats a total bummer. Braces probably suck.

I have been lucky enough to never need them.

Thank god I don't have braces anymore :D But really they aren't that bad, you'll be alright. They are a bummer, but you get used to 'em after a few days/weeks.

I had my top row of braces for about 3 years and the bottom row for about 2. I had a minor case, so I didn't have to use any bands. For me, it really wasn't that bad. The first and second days kind of blow because you're teeth will be really sensitive and you won't be able to eat any solid food. After that, it's just minor inconveniences like avoiding some foods, going to the ortho every month, and going to the dentist who can't really clean your teeth while you've got a mouth of metal, that are the worst parts. Soon enough you'll get them off and it'll be great because you won't have to worry about that stuff anymore. Just make sure that you wear your retainers as your ortho orders you to, or your teeth will shift back. My friend didn't wear his and he pretty much wasted all that time and money.

Luckily, my teeth have always been the essence of perfection. *brags*

Anyways, I've heard people say when they remove the expander after you're done with braces, pieces of meat from meals of previous months fall from it.

I got my braces on 2 weeks ago. The first 4 days suck. The rest after that, you can't even feel them. Until they adjust them again, of course. Also, try not to break a bracket on the first day like me. Avoid eating for the rest of the day after the appointment if possible :)

It takes a while to get used to them. Although, some people deal with them much better than others, as some teeth aren't as bad as others, while others will be doing a lot more moving. Also, some people have higher tolerances of discomfort than others, so I can't really say how you'll manage.

Just expect this: soreness that comes out of no where. Sometimes you'll have very painful tightenings, other times they won't bother you at all. Also expect to occasionally have a wire snap and poke you in your cheek or gums. They'll also feel very alien when you wake up the next morning.

When you get them off, though, the feeling of smooth, straight teeth will be absolutely incredible. Also, WEAR YOUR RETAINER! Keep it up, and if it's too uncomfortable, get your orthodontist to adjust it. I ruined my teeth by not wearing it because I didn't like it.

I just got mine taken off. I had them on for about 2-3 years. And it feels awesome when you get them off. They weren't so bad, just brush normally and don't get anything caught in them.

I need them pretty badly, they suck, but you'll live, I mean, there's worse things that can happen, this is just so manageable, it'll all become routine stuff in a week.

They weren't too bad. I had to have them for a while. The worst thing about them was wearing the elastics, which I had to do occasionally.

I wore mine like everyday for about a year then it broke, so I stopped wearing it. My teeth moved back a little bit. Overall though, mine are still straight. That sucks yours got messed up after all the time wearing braces. :(

My friend told me that once you get braces it will only hurt for a few days but soon you won't feel them anymore. You just have to be careful with what you eat and to do the daily brush routines. Sucks though that you have to get those braces.

Braces aren't that bad. I have it particularly worse though because I was born without my 2 secondary front teeth so they have to widen it. Right now I have a huge gap in my smile but they're putting in new teeth in a matter of months.

If you had to have spacers those hurt worse than the actual braces. I've got my top now, had them about 3 months. You get used to the feeling pretty quick too.

Man, the 1st of week of wearing braces, it really hurts like a B****! Your whole teeth shifts for a week or two, during this time period you wont be able to chew food, you will feel pain 24/7 for at least a week or so. Well, didnt ment to scared you there, but it happened to me when I first got them back in 2006, and Im still wearing them, 3 more months till I get it remove.

Bracers are terrible! However the new ones seem better, there are some that are barely visible, but it must still hurt like hell to eat after he tightens them.

I also hate the feel of cold in my teeth's nerve when he removed the glue after removing the braces. Getting braces won't hurt, but an hour later it will.

Well if they have to put on the "power bands" then it will definitely get worse before getting better. Just braces in general get dirty easily. but they stop being hugely noticable after a couple of weeks.

I got them about 3-4 weeks back. They bothered me though, becuase they didnt reinforce the wire enough, so it kept slipping and moving, which would pierce holes in my gums, and made my teeth very sore D: But now, they put like 4 little weight things on it so it wont move, and my teeth are a bit better. I get the bottom ones on in a few weeks, that's gonna be rough :(

No, actually it isn't. Every time you go for a tightening its going to suck and blow all at the same time. There is hardly a physical pain in this world that is considered "legal" that is worse than braces after a tightening.

This is the compliment I give girls with braces, I say this, "your smile is so beautiful it has to be a crime that's why your teeth are behind bars." Go ahead, you could use it, it works everytime. Thank me later.

The first week sucks, as your teeth will hurt and not to mention the crap you'll get from everyone... Then, it becomes a normality, just like every other change you'll endure.
