1) There's only one sign and it's that I don't care.

This actually goes beyond a joke thread into asking what motivates people to try and force their beliefs on others? I've never done it intentfully, but on OT I see it a lot. "This is why Christiaity is wrong" "This is why atheism is wrong" "this is why whatever you believe is wrong and I'm undeniably right lalalalalalala I'm not listening".

I just don't see the point... especially coming from a bunch of people who talk like they understand what they're saying, but then constantly make... naive, shall we say? statements one after the other...

I just don't get it...

Quite ironically, I am actually asking what you think on this matter.

Are you trying to force your belief that you don't care down our throats? Ahhh...

Talk about naive statements...

Here, let me explain this for you guys who always complain about the religion threads. Educated folks would let you know that it's ALWAYS a good thing for 2 sides to come together and discuss their differences. It's how we eventually will come to agree on one common, shared ground. It's how we get to know each other better. It may even eventually lead us to realize we're not that different after all. But, discussion and debate is always a good thing, so for the zillionth time, could you just not click the threads that you don't like? There's plenty of other threads for you to enjoy. Thanks. :)

Its not just on OT..Its all over the globe. Ever hear about missionaries? There main purpose besides medical care and education is trying to get people around the world to convert to their religion. Muslims Dont believe what Christians do just like some people dont like Same Sex marriage. Its part of human nature and it will never end.

It's not a part of the fad topics. If you read my post you'd have seen that and responded appropriatly. I only played on the other threads titles.

Next thing you know we're going to start seeing "Top 10 reasons why I hate Top Ten threads".

But as for your question. I think some people on here just like to genuinely like to discuss their various beliefs, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just when a troublemaker comes along and decides to rile people up by bashing them for their beliefs that things take a turn for the worse. Those are the people to blame for many of the flame wars that occur, not the honest ones just trying to talk about the subject at hand.

I wasn't "forcing" it on you. in an online setting it's impossible to do it anyway else.

It doesn't do any good when the two sides go in and just argue until they get bored and don;t stand on middle ground 9which seems to always happen).

I didn't say I didn't like those threads.

 Is that what you kids are calling it these days?

Have you ever seen a religious thread?

The asian girl is the Atheists and the donkey is the Christians.

Arguing about religion is ALWAYS going to be fruitless. Both sides believe in what they were trained by their society to believe and one person isn't going to change that, no matter how convincing their arguments may be.

But it doesn't. Every couple of days there are new people with the same argument.

That's what I'm getting at. If you know others who don't believe what you do won't change... why try?

I only ever end up arguing friends for the sake of the argument, and at the end we end up thinking "That was pointless," but it was fun... when it comes to someone you don't know and they're just pushing it and pushing it without any consideration of what others arfe actually saying... It just becomes ridiculous, and then a mod closes the thread and there's a 30 minute cool down peroid...

In RL... Mormons and Jehova Witnesses come to mind. Many times you ask them to leave and they just stand there... Why I asked the original question is that I don't have any feverant (word?) beliefs to force on anyone, nor would I try to if I did, but I don;t understand the midnset of the people who do. I can guess... but not truely understand.

Best advice for people that don't like topics about religion is to ignore those topics and stay away from them.

Well Asians are generally believed to be intelligent, so that's a compliment. You just called christians a bunch of asses, though.

And you're absolutely wrong about this being fruitless. I personally have changed 3 peoples' minds so much to the point that they eventually dropped their religion and are now atheists.

mmhm. I bet when they got done talking to you they went home. got out their Bible and prayed for your soul. People will be what they are, and you can't change that.

And what difference does it make if you do change people's minds? Do you get to keep a tab of your score and then show it off to everyone and get a medal for it?

I'm not keeping track...3 is a very low number; an easy amount to remember of anything. And I only brought it up because I had to.

mmhm. I bet when they got done talking to you they went home. got out their Bible and prayed for your soul. People will be what they are, and you can't change that.

hamstergeddon

Really...so you know them huh? The people who used to go to church and now don't? The people who have family members who are sad that they no longer believe, yet they still remain strong in their atheism, and won't give in just because their family wants them to be christian? Right, these people are really going through a lot just to convince me that I had an effect on them.

You're right about SOME people being stubborn though, it seems like even though I tell you the truth about something, you'll stick your head in the sand and say "nuh-uh!", no matter what. But go ahead and believe that you know what's happened in my life more than I do. Yes, please do. I need a good laugh.
