Taken from one of my favorite webistes, Listverse.com

Here is a list of 10 things the Nazis did that were arguably good in nature and practice. The list does not glorify Germany's most notorious regime, but rather humanizes it.

Top 10 Things the Nazis Got Right

The thing I found most fascinating was the Autobahn. I did not know it was a Nazi construction, nor did I know it preceded the U.S. Interstate system. Those damn Germans are always doing things first I guess. Interesting...

This list could have 100 different examples, and its still is nothing in comparison to the 60 millions lives lost... sorry, I really don't care...

I'm beginning to wonder about some of the stuff on OT... more support here for Hitler than at an Aryan punk concert...

Listverse, or as I like to call it Lagverse! Seriously is it just me or is that one of the slowest to load websites in the world! Anyway I do like the site, even if it's very, VERY American biased but then they are based in America. It's like a lot of lists that talk about things like 'Top 10 bands you never heard of" would list some British bands that are almost house hold names here in the UK. Plus they fill up a lot of the top sports lists with Baseball and American Football. I think they realise this themselves so they make sure the number 1 spot always goes to somewhere foreign but that's such a blatant suck up.

Yeah, if it weren't for the thing with the Jews and attacking the West, the Nazis would be very well thought of.

All political regimes have done something good for the people or the world throughout history... just some have done many, many more bad things. They might have got a few things right, but the entire basis for the existence of the Nazi party was inherently negative for human life. And I have nothing wrong with people using medical advancements brought about through radical research techniques that may not be ethically sound. Sure, they had rights and shouldn't have been treated in such a fashion... but so long as their sacrifice isn't used to save more lives, then they died in vain, and died horrifically for nothing.

Wow, the first one on the list is "banning vivisection". I'm guessing this list was written by an animal rights activist, because only they could be so ignorant as to forget that while the Nazis had a problem with vivisection on animals they had zero qualms about performing vivisection on concentration camp prisoners.

Obviously what most people on this thread fail to understand is that article about the RIGHT things the Nazis did... We all know all the bad things they did, so this about the less known good things... This has been very informative :)

I know that, but it's really stupid to say that one of the right things they did was ban vivisection when in reality they didn't ban it but instead made it so that the only animal you could legally vivisect was humans.

Medical Advancement at the cost of hundreds of thousands used for experimentation. Nazi sympathizers are all I could think as I read that article, that's not a good thing by the way.

Sorry, I'm not seeing or hearing anything past the countless lives that couldn't give two flips what they did correctly. Shoot, mates, I can do lots of evil things while holding the door for someone from time to time. What's that? I'm watering down what good the Nazis did do? Ohhohoho, oh noes.

Did you completely ignore what the guy just said? Does it matter that they created a law that banned Vivisection IF THEY STILL CONDUCTED VIVISECTION?

During the Civil War the United States freed slaves, granted African Americans civil liberties, granted them the right to vote, granted them equality... Yet for the next 100 years they still had none of these in most cases... Does that mean the United States did it right? Does that mean the United States was a haven of freedom? No. Not unless you were white. Not until the 1960's.

"While during the 1930s and 1940s, other anti-tobacco movements failed fantastically in other countries, it was taken seriously in Nazi Germany." yep, the nazis had a way with people.

What about all their other racist, homophobic and horrific policies, not to mention their war mongering across Europe and North Africa? What happenned to the Jews was horrendus, but it wasn't like it was the only "bad thing" the Nazis did, I find your comment offensive beyond belief.

I fail to see how Germany can be considered Nazi simply because the governing party is Nazy.

THats like saying the US is entirely made up of democrats, or Norway is entirely socialist, etc, etc.

The simple fact is many of those improvements and innovations came from honest hardworking Germans, not nazis, and a lot of them occured prior to the Holocaust.

I really, really, really hate this political oversensitivity...

...its better to call all Germans as Nazis because, God forbid, we say something nice about the Germans from 1930-1945.

...its better not be able to play as a Luftwaffe pilot or a German soldier in WWII video games because, God forbid, we'd be playing as a member of something that unknowingly supports the extermination of the Jews.

Even though the Holocaust was horrible, the time of the Nazis was somewhat a renaissance for Germany. There were many expeditions to uncover artifacts, such as El Dorado (if you ever played Uncharted, you can see German Uboats throughout the game), and (sort of like a necessary evil), many breakthroughs about medicine and the human body were made (since the Jews served as test subjects for Nazi doctors). It was a horrible time no less, but it did have a small amount of good that came out of it.

Morality has no place when you want to advance. I'm not saying it was right, to put bleach into the eyes of jews, to see if they could turn irises blue, or cutting off the chest skin of young jewish men, to make lampshades, but you really have to take chances when you want to see changes.

morality always has a place, wtf are you talking about?

I'd rather stay right where we are and retain my humanity, than advance without it.

If only the kept their renaissance for themselves without trying to impose it into other countries, they would be more advanced than the US today.

Don't give in to that crap. Morality has every place when you want to advance. We, humans would have advanced, granted at a slower rate, but we would have gotten their over time. Let's take chances with volunteers, not the volunteered. There's no justification of what was done to the Jews, or other countries'/continents' people. "Morality has no place..." bull crap!

The quagmire is that you can't ignore that many advances came as a result of very inhumane activity... history, even recent history, is full of times when something was learned at great expense. In the days of informed consent, this can go on, but people for the most part know what they're getting into when they sign up for it.

It's a sad truth of the world, but I don't think morality has to go out the window. Humanity, on the other hand...

I'd have to disagree with firstly point 10. Vivisection on animals is wrong and they were right to ban it, however it's somewhat hypocritical to ban it on animals and then continue to carry it out on POW's and in concentration camps which is an utterly disgusting act. Point 6 ignores the fact that the rocketry that the Nazi's did introduce was used on London in the form of V2 rockets which completely destroyed parts of my Capital killing thousands in a hail of fire. Finally point one seems to point out that these medical advances were the concequence of torture on prisoners and then completely ignores it!

In my opinion such means never EVER justify the result.

Very much dislike.
