Top 250 Movies

Are there any movies on the IMDb's top 250 that just make you go "Wait seriously? Really? Why is that so high on here?"

I'm just looking at it and I can't stop saying that.

Like, The Dark Knight is number 11. Really?

And Inception is number 4. WTF.

And I'm sorry but Toy Story 3 was not that good. And it's way up there.

Is this list "all-time", or just in the past couple of years?

Do not take it to heart. Is it ridiculous to have The Dark Knight up their? Yes, but this is based on the general public and the ratings the movie gets through the site.

Inglourious Basterds, Toy Story 3 (shouldn't be so high up), Inception, Up, The Social Network. And District 9 should be higher up.

Yes I would have to agree as well that these movies that are on the list are based on public popularity. And as it seems many people forget about movies that have been there in the past, of course your gonna see movies such as Toy Story 3 there, and Inception.

Though Star Wars is there...

I think it's a good list depending on how you look at it. It's not good if you want a list of the 250 best movies ever, but it's a good starting point for someone who's looking to become a film buff.

It has a little bit of so many different genres, years, languages, etc...if someone was to go through the IMDB top 250 and watch everything on the list, they should get a good idea of what types of movies are their favorites and use it as a springboard to move onto other stuff.

I don't necessarily like the order, but Rottentomatoes.com's top 100 list is much better. Movies like The Seventh Seal appear to be missing, however, but it's still rich in foreign films.

theres a lot of good movies on there and alot of christopher nolan fans :P

inception will fall from #4 for sure, its just that its relatively new so its rating hasnt had a chance to fall more yet.

the site is open to the general public but more hardcore movie ppl prolly vote there than casual ppl.

yeah but the order is terrible, mostly since it goes by # of reviewers

edit: i take that back, alot of those movies i just havent heard of, but the order is still ridiculous to me

I think it's a great list. Although a few films I think have a low rating.

I went to that list the other day to buy some films that I may have missed. Shawshank is not the best movie ever. I thought toy story 1 was the best. Pulp fiction was good but not that good. Schindlers list was boring as hell. Many more, its a pretty bad list overall. If you watched the top 10 movies you would think WTF these are the top 10 ever?! The top 10 is mostly movies made 20 years before I was even born. Movies are much better now.hotfiree
