1. Kurt Cobain: Maybe he wasnt technically a great guitar player but he wrote simple, catchy, powerful riffs. He was able to convey more emotion in his guitar playing than most people can with their lyrics and guitar combined.

2. Jimi Hendrix: What else is there to say about Jimi Hendrix that hasnt been said before?

3. Johnny Ramone: He pioneered the "Punk Rock" sound. Fast, Simple, 3 Chord riffs.

Malmsteen - He can create some pretty technical and complex pieces despite them all sounding the same, and him refusing to work with any real talent to make his career a bit more prominent outside of just being another neo-classical shredder, but damn it I like his stuck up attitude and his technical chops!

John Frusciante - What can I say? He's weird and a bit eccentric but he's talented. His work outside of the Popular band RHCP is just as good, guitar wise if not better at times, since It's all about him and what he feels.

Stephen Carpenter (Deftones) - Since I can only pick 3 I might as well broaden this list with one of my influences since I'm a big fan of his riffs. It's simple stuff, but it's heavy.
