For me
Hajime no ippo first season ep 1-76 plus the two ova movies
Samurai Champloo
Berserk original
Eyeshield 21
Attack on Titan
my Top 5 mangas that either don't have and anime or are better than the anime that I think people should read:
One piece
One Punch Man
Vagabond
Toriko
Shamo
1. Dragonball Z
I believe this is going to be number 1 for plenty of people. DBZ influenced many popular animes of today such as Naruto and Bleach. Oh and Vegeta:P
2. Naruto
3. Digimon
Not an anime exactly but It was a fantastic part of my childhood:) I will never forget that theme song and Agumon and the DigiDestined.
My personal favourites:
Honourable Mentions
I haven't watched much but:
I've only watched the 2 movies and haven't seen the main series yet but, Eden of the East is pretty awesome too.
3. Sword Art Online
Only seen a few episodes of this so far, but definitely an interesting concept. While watching the first episode I was thinking 'damn, ain't that a b!tch'
Great...I've watched most of them except One Piece (it's daunting to start now when the show is up to like 650 eps) and FMA.
@thecruzan: I might give it a try but I'm afraid it might be too silly for my taste. 80% serious and 20% silly I can deal with, but not the opposite.
@thecruzan: Thanks. I'll give it a go when I have the time to push a good bunch of episodes in a row to get myself into it otherwise it'll end up like Fairy Tale...the silly aspect of it and watching it one ep a week put me off it before the show could kick in properly.
I don't think I've watched enough of it to have a top five but I've watcheda few and my favorites are Gungrave, Higurashi: When They Cry and Deadman Wonderland (although the latter is infuriatingly not finished).
5. Ergo Proxy-Very interesting anime, but gets too convoluted near the end. Episode 16 is amazing though, perfect episode.
4. Halo Legends
3. Samurai Champloo
2. Welcome to the NHK
1. Fullmetal alchemist 2003-Brotherhood was great, but still, the emotion and realism captured in the 2003 was amazing to me. The alchemy felt more like a science, rather than a super human power in the 2003 anime, with the constant integration of equivalent exchange, which didnt exist much throughout brotherhood. I understand brotherhood is the 'better' anime, but I think people underrate the 2003 anime just because it doesnt follow the manga.
1. Gurren Lagann - (Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in the Kamina who believes in you!)
2, Dragonball Z
3. Pokemon (does that count, I still love it)
4 . Eden Of The East
5 Digimon
I've not watched too many Anmies, I should watch more I do like what I have seen so far
1) Attack on Titan 2) Attack on Titan 3) Attack on Titan 4) Attack on Titan 5) Dragonball z... (I've only seen 2 animes).
I haven't watched much but:
I've only watched the 2 movies and haven't seen the main series yet but, Eden of the East is pretty awesome too.
i like the cut of your jib
most people here like kiddy anime but i see you like a good drama
I haven't watched anime in about five years, but I've seen every episode of Dragon Ball Z and around 350 episodes of One Piece, and they were both reaaaaally good. Naruto is also respectable. DBZ has always been my favorite though.

In no real order
Texhnolyze
Serial Experiments Lain
Neon Genesis Evangelion (The whole damn thing inculding End of Evangelion & the Rebuilds movies)
Elfen Lied
Baccano!
Madoka Magica
Rin~ Daughters of Mnemosyne
Ergo Proxy
Spice and Wolf
When They Cry
Death Note
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex
DBZ (out of nostalgia mostly)
Cowboy Bebop
Miyazaki films.
One Piece(especially water 7 arc)
Hunter X Hunter(newer one)
Death Note
Attack on Titan(though it is a bit toned down compared to the manga)
Code Geass
Sword Art Online was GREAT the first couple episodes, still solid after the first part but it dipped in quality
Honorable mentions:
In no particular order:
Full Metal Alchemist (both the original and Brotherhood)
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Attack on Titan ( I'd heard a lot about this anime and by the fourth episode I was blown away. Very much deserving of praise)
Sword Art Online
Kekkaishi (can't believe no one else has mentioned this superb anime yet)
DBZ ( I don't really consider this anime mostly because of it's mainstream popularity. Great animated series that could use some 2 hour long OVA's like the Evangelion ones)
