Let's be honest people; do you really give a flying **** about mattresses? I'm just asking, because I certainly am not.

you're not into mattresses? that's odd. i mean, most people sleep on one everyday, most people spend hours at a time sleeping on it ... it's like fairly important stuff.

As long as I have a floor and 3 feet of leg room, I'm comfortable.

Actually I know a few people that have spent a lot on a sealy mattress and not liked it.

I currently have the perfect mattress (don't know the brand- got it for free on an insurance claim - it was about $1200) it's a pillow top.

I reckon medium firmness with a pillowtop is the best.

My Dad had a really firm mattress as his guest bed- it was so bad when we stayed my wife told him to buy a new one - we went with him and got this insanely soft pillow top mattress - It's way tooo soft really - you sink right in- it's like sleeping on lots of soft boobs and bums. I wouldn't want to slepp on it every night.

If this thread actually sparks interest in people I might go look at what my current mattress is....

Do not put much tought into it. Sleep on my couch. My mattress sinks down to one side. Perhaps I will buy a new one one day. But like the couch.

i am for real. this year was a really exciting one for mattresses. We saw Serta revamp their whole aesthetic to appeal more to casual consumers and i thought it was a smart move to hire Vera Wang for the job. Everyone thought the Sealy's posturepedic was going to be a big hit but it flopped in sales and never really took off, it sort of went under the radar. i also thin that some of the s and f stuff was overhyped and not near as comfortable or aesthetically pleasing as the stuff they've been coming out with in the last few years or so.

Maybe I should get myself a mattress. I just use the one that came with my dorm room and it's pretty much the crappiest mattress ever. It's really thin and smells kinda bad.

Haha, I love how everyone takes threads like these so seriously. I have one matress on my uni bed and another one back home. They're both great. Can't beat a bit of Vera's Wang though.

You should start your own site that specialises solely in reviewing and grading mattresses. I wouldn't be surprised if a few already existed though.

I recognize the importance of mattresses but... why make a top 5 list? I doubt most people know what these even are, and most people keep the same mattress for years. I don't even know what kind of mattress I have. It's a cheap one with a Memory Foam slab on top.

Hype? I don't exactly hear people saying "OMG did you sleep on that new S and F yet? omg I bought 3! I can't wait till the new Tempur Pedic comes out, though!"

As long as it's a relatively high density foam mattress I don't care about brands. The last one I bought I ordered custom anyway, so it was actually long enough to fit me without my feet dangling over the edge.

Those rubber mattresses have me curious, though. They're also supposed to last a long time. They're also supposed to be **bleep**ing heavy.

Anything with springs sucks. No exception.

I use the Denmark XL, without a pillow. It's like like eating a bowl of nails...without milk...seriously, your spine will thank you!
