For me, it's saving private ryan and thin red line.

SPR takes place in europe while TRL takes place in the pacific.

SPR is more about patriotism and sacrifice while TRL is more about war poisoning the mind of a sane man.

These are both awesome movies and go hand in hand.

Have you seen either one? If you haven't seen both, I reccomend you try both.

The Downfall doesn't have the action like a Saving Private Ryan but the acting is some of the best i've seen in a WWII movie

but it's not really a war movie, it's a holocaust movie.

lots of movies take place during wars, but that doesn't make them 'war movies.'

lots of movies take place during wars, but that doesn't make them 'war movies.'

But the Holocaust did not just take place during WW2, it was PART of WW2.
It may not be your typical run-n-gun war thriller, but it's definitely a different look at different corners of what happened in the war.

Even though it's not technically a movie, Band of Brothers is probably the best, along with Saving Private Ryan and Schindlers List.

Defiance, a more recent WW2 movie, is pretty good as well

Lot of good WWII movies being listed, I really liked A Bridge to Far and The Big Red One. Of course Downfall is great, Saving Private Ryan was awesome and Memphis Belle was sweet too.

Saving private ryan was good. I like "battle of the bulge" and "Downfall" Pearl harbour is more of a romance movie than a war movie. Seriously i hate that woman, what a wh*re.

Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. But I don't really know if you'd call it a movie.
