Why does the devil buy souls? I mean, is he just bored? Is he hoping they will gain value over time? Are they limited edition collectibles like Beanie Babies or something? Is it strictly an image thing? Or maybe he's selling them on the black market to robots.
Presumably because his chief goal is the mess with God's plans. God apparently wants every one of us to join Him in heaven, and is deeply upset by the loss of even a single soul. Thus, if Satan can convince a person to surrender his or her soul to himself, it prevents it from going to God, which hurts God.
