Essentially this is the guy who made 'Hellboy' and 'Pan's Labyrinth' directing a film with big f*cking robots fighting big f*cking monsters.
Enough said.

Don't forget he is also the director who did two of my favorite movies. Cronos and especially The excellent and underrated The Devil's Backbone.
Also this will be great to have Ron Pearlman back with Del Toro again! They both fit very well together for Cronos.
Gundam vs Godzilla...yay....I'm surprised Michael Bay isn't directing this.

I'm rather glad he isn't.
Also F*CK YEA GUILLERMO DEL TORO AS DIRECTOR! Movie of the year 2013 Calling it now.
Looks alright. But if it didn't have Del Toro's name all the counter-culture people here would be calling it some generic CG wannabe Transformers crap.

Pretty much. It looks ok, and I'm holding out hope and higher standards because it does in fact have Del Toro's name on it, but the trailer doesn't make it look like a masterpiece or anything.
Looks pretty boss! Likely will check it out in theaters. Still more excited for Del Toro's other upcoming movie, Mama.

I'm pleased to see mention of my favourite Del Toro movie: So much tragedy and injustice and then, at the end, a brilliant and fitting catharsis!
It sounds cheap that they borrowed a video game sound effect (GLaDOS's synthesized voice of Ellen McClain). Did del Toro run out of money with the special effects that he had no money left to spend on sound? It would be awesome if the actual "character" of GLaDOS was worked into the movie, but I don't think that is the case.
Make it sound like he ripped lines straight from the game. More like he's shouting out to how awesome the game is and giving an actor an even bigger audience. Millions of people that don't even care about Portal will see this movie and hear her voice. It sounds cheap that they borrowed a video game sound effect (GLaDOS's synthesized voice of Ellen McClain).
