Honestly, I think it looks like a good movie; I liked the other live-action Transformer movies *hides behind flame shield*
I saw both the special pre-screening and midnight premiere both in IMAX 3D. I thought it was a great movie. Best one in the series so far and soooo much better than ROTF.
I have a review of it in another topic in the first couple pages, with spoilers. Those saying they won't see it because it's crap don't know anything. Don't believe them. See it for yourself and be the judge.

its a crappy movie that will make money, who knew

90% of people disagree with you.
90% of people couldn't tell a decent movie from a carcinogenThe previous two movies were horrible. Didn't expect this to be any better.bobdood99I actually thought the first was good, but I'll admit, the second one was pretty bad

That's your opinion.
I don't get it, so did critics also have their own opinions or were they overly hard on the film?Ratings on Transformers movies don't really mean anything as it already has such a large built in audience that as long as they deliver enough of what people liked from the first two highly successful film they will remain impervious to any naysaying -- even moreso in this case considering the hammering the first two took people are fairly numb to it.

I also don't get it. I thought everyone was capable of having their own opinions.

This from the person who just said 'critics were overly hard' on the film. So what was it? Oh, you wanted to have a serious discussion? The simple answer to your question: Both. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Oh, so you think their opinions were wrong? Didn't know you held yourself so highly. It has a 7.3 on IMDb right now, I stopped caring about RT and Metacritc (for movies only, I still use MC often for games) long ago.

Or you know...maybe they just want an action movie with a bit of substance?I'm probably going to go enjoy this with some friends as a social outing. People going to see this who want another Citizen Kane just don't know how to enjoy themselves imo.

At least you didn't deny claiming someones personal opinion on something is wrong, I admire your honesty in admitting your arrogance.[QUOTE="StealthMonkey4"]IMDB :lol:It has a 7.3 on IMDb right now, I stopped caring about RT and Metacritc (for movies only, I still use MC often for games) long ago.

I don't see what's funny about IMDb...

If the audience didn't like it, it would be a different story.
I just think things become popular to hate on, and that drowns out the people who legitimately didn't like the movie.
So I take everything critics say with a grain of salt and pay more attention to the people who went solely to have a good time.

So you tend to listen to/depend on the general audience's opinion about a films quality more so than critics...I still don't think that should make the critics 'wrong'. They weren't overly hard on the film, they just based it on their own standards of what makes a film 'good', they just criticized it more than you. This seems to be something that people forget, I say this since there have been so many threads about critics recently. They just formulate their own opinions, that is all, they aren't wrong in liking/hating it, just like the general audience isn't wrong for liking/hating it, they just both judge films completely differently, which makes sense because it is mostly all subjective outside of the objective aspects that we can all agree on, like someone's performance, but some can just over look these things while others can't.So you tend to listen to/depend on the general audience's opinion about a films quality more so than critics...I still don't think that should make the critics 'wrong'. What makes the critics wrong, for me, is whether I enjoyed the movie or not. To me they were all wrong.
You may not think so, but that's entirely your opinion.
Transformers - 144 minutes
Transformers: RofL - 150 minutes
Transformers: DotM - 155 minutes
2001: A Space Odyssey - 142 minutes
Why?

The people at IMDb mostly seem to know what they're talking about, they're not critics, but they have better tastes than your average movie-goer. The critics are too artsy in my opinion, they can't just sit back and enjoy a movie every now and then that isn't the next Citizen Kane.

Critics are very capable of just having a good time at the movies. Just because they don't like the latest Bay schlock doesn't mean they don't enjoy the occasional stupid action/horror movie. This notion that they go around expecting every film to be high art is ridiculous.

My general rule. The lower the "professional" critics rate an action movie the more I'll like it. The higher they rate one of those pretentious stuck up movies the more I'll hate it.FOr the most part I don't even pay attention to the critics. If I see a trailer for a movie and I want to see I go see it.
unless it's made by Quenton Tarantino, everything gets bad scores from them. they have heavily criticized movies that i love. so i don't listen to them.
