Later tonight I'm going to watch "Ichi the Killer" for the first time, maybe followed by "Salò" if I can handle them both in a row.

Ichi the Killer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0296042/

Salò: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073650/

You into the more extreme side of film making? List some of your favorite films, and motivate what you like about them.

It's a genre and I would be banned for linking it. Just type it into google and find out what it is. Like I said, not my cup of tea, but I'm sure some sick people out there are into it.

Not really a fan of any type of extreme gore movies, I dont see the pleasure in watching them unless they have a very good plot and a point behind the gore.

Plot can be discussed, but often the whole point behind certain films like that is just expressing the art of the gore itself.

Isn't a snuff film simply a real murder in a movie? which is illegal so its not like you can go to your local video store or move theatre and see a snuff film.

Yeah the term "snuff" refers to those urban legendary Italian whack job films, but there are certain films made to look like snuff movies, such as August Underground.

Just someone off topic about the Arrested Development sig (it is that show yeah?) How he rolls away, I did that in school the other day. The teachers were yelling at people to get out and I yelled "COMMANDO ROLL!" and rolled away. Was rather funny.

My friend saw a small part of Ichi the Killer one tme. He said it was one of the most disgusting movies he had seen... I really dont see the entertainment in watching people be treated so brutally...

Ichi The Killer isn't meant to be taken seriously, it's meant to be funny. Plus the violence isn't even remotely realistic, it's over the top (like a more extreme Kill Bill). I thought it was a great film. Salo, never seen it, heard it's downright revolting. Good luck with that one.

It is an acknowledged genre and a certain way some directors choose to express themselves, regardless of your own personal opinion. Not saying that all gore flicks have a point or any depth at all, of course.

Admittedly, it was groundbreaking but that's all the charm it holds for me, unfortunately.

I've got it and I'm an avid horror film fan. What is so great about Cannibal Holocaust? What is the artistic merit in butchering animals on-screen for "entertainment"?? It's just a pseudo-documentary trashfest bordering on idiotic at best.

It's entertainment, as everything else in the movie business.

I question people's sanity who enjoy watching movies like that.sSubZerOo

Wow, could you be a bit more dramatic? The people who go out on the street and butcher others are insane. The people who stay indoors in their nice and quiet corners and watch movies with fake blood and pretend homicides are not. And even if some of them are, isn't it better to watch movies than to take actions to outlet their interest in gore? "Cannibal Holocaust" is a borderline case, since it contains the actual killings of a pig and a turtle, and I didn't enjoy that movie one bit.

I have watched so many gory movies, nothing bothers me. its not the gore so much, its the intent of the scene. Its also the pacing and editing that make a scene effective. Sometimes gore is just boring..other times it makes you sit up off the couch with your mouth hanging open with amazement.

Highly recommend a new film called INSIDE. Its a French movie that is very brutal and disturbing about a pregnant woman being stalked by a maniac woman who wants to steal her baby...the hard way.

Later tonight I'm going to watch "Ichi the Killer" for the first time, maybe followed by "Salò" if I can handle them both in a row.

Ichi the Killer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0296042/

Salò: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073650/

You into the more extreme side of film making? List some of your favorite films, and motivate what you like about them.

seen them both, only part of Ichi that made me quiver was the nipple slicing; as for Sodom, the excrement eating made me sick to my stomach. you should watch Cannibal Holocaust, pretty intense.

though it depends on what you find ''disturbing'', Ichi is pretty damn extreme; (there's a child murder near the end, though...)
it was just an illusion
'fight for your life' had some child murder - check that one out too.
I watched parts of August Underground but i stopped because it got boring after a while.Toshan1337

But that's what makes it so good! It's so real and convincing, which makes it all the more unsettling.

I guess i don't like it because it doesn't have a real story. But that Ichi The Killer seems pretty good. Worth checking out?

How could it have a story and still maintain its credibility? It was supposed to look authentic which it greatly succeeded in by cutting out the unnecessary drama and action.

I haven't watched Ichi yet, so I'll have to get back to you on that.

Expectations are sky high for Ichi. But please check my earlier posts in this thread for my views on Cannibal Holocaust. I don't hold it in very high regard at all.
