true love - what do you think?

Does it exist? Do we ever love someone absolutely, or is it more likely that we just pick someone we get along with and become attached to them by very nature of being around them regularly?

I was pretty surprised when one of my friends earlier was asked if he loved his girlfriend who he's been with for three years (by another girl, trying to be cute...). He replied no, even though they say 'i love you' all the time. He then went on a mini-rant about how there's no such thing as love, saying 'you just settle for the best you think you're going to get dont you? It's what we do, but nobody will admit it'.

So romantic. :P

What do you guys think? Do you believe 'love' exists?

Love is such a loose term, but I do believe it's out there.

I think it exists, but cannot be accomplished by humanity due to its being unconditional.

i think the word love is overused by many, and it downplays its significance.

I think the term true love is there to try and assure people that there is always going to be someone out there who they can indefinitily spend their life with and who can provide them happiness.To put it bluntly, I think the idea is bollocks.I don't think it exists any more than the tooth fairy.

There is a difference in loving something or someone and being in love with someone. That's just me though. I love a lot of things, but I'm not in love with anyone. Don't know if I'll experience it.

Now that I think about it, I don't know if there is true love. I've never been in love with someone, so I have no idea what it feels like or if it exists. I just like to believe it does exist and hope I feel it someday.

My definition of true love is when you like someone more than anything else ever, it is possible to get someone whom you actually like that much but only for the really lucky.:(
