who thinks royce gracie truelyisthe best UFC fighter? im talking about in his prime, not if he came back would he be the best. if you took all of the UFC contestants in their primes, would gracie be the best?

and, when did UFC decide that fighters MUST us gloves? early fights guys were going bareknuckles and whatnot.

He changed the way the entire sport was played. He was at least the most influential fighter, if not the best.

I would say Anderson Silva is the best, the man is unstoppable, though that'd be a hell of a fight if both were in their prime.

Sure gotta respect the way he fights and what he's done. But he wouldn't stand a chance today. Also if your interested in MMA, take MMA, or just like it. Click on my sig to join the MMA union.

Royce Gracie in his prime would be an average fighter at best if he fought today.

It is a toss up between gracie and randy couture for me. I will agree that Gracie is one of the most influential. If only McCain could mind his own business then UFC would be back the way it was when Gracie was at his peak.

no. royce was a one dimensional grappler who submitted guys who didn't know **** about grappling. even in his prime, he couldn't hang with anyone in this day and age of MMA. hell, some of the light weights could probably beat him. he was a pioneer, nothing more.

true. i guess it would be like me asking if chritopher columbus could stand up the czech Army if they were both in their prime just because chris slaughtered a bunch of native americans.

Tito Ortiz anyone?csimonma

LOL. me and mgamer are laughing at such a comment. tito ortiz is/was a good fighter, very dominant LHW, but he was still pretty one dimensional. he was also on a pretty long lay off...like a year and a half, so he probably has ring rust. we'll see how he does at UFC 106...

Chuck could win this with one arm and STILL beat Ken back to back!
