http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/03/15/trump-him-or-not-saddam-didn-t-put-terrorists

by Patrick Summers | March 15, 2011

-------------------------------------------

In an extremely wide-ranging and at times surreal interview with Human Events, Donald Trump said he admired Saddam Hussein's terrorism policy.

"Whether you like Saddam Hussein or not, and I don't - he was a bad guy - but he used to shoot terrorists, he use to kill them. He didn't give them a trial like in this country...he used to shoot terrorists and kill them."

As Iraq's president, Saddam Hussein was accused of chemical weapon attacks against entire villages and towns, and he was eventually convicted on charges related to the killing of 148 Shi'ites and was sentenced to death by hanging. He was executed on December 30th, 2006.

On Afghanistan and U.S forces, Trump stressed, "I want to invest a lot of money into our military."

But exactly what he meant by that is pretty unclear, as he added, "We don't have to have our soldiers over there in the Middle East being blown up by land mines...it's just not going to happen. With me we're going to build the United States."

However he's apparently ok with sending naval forces into the Indian Ocean. When confronted with the Somali pirate situation, Trump insisted, "Give me one good admiral and a few ships and I will wipe them out so fast."

Where does the potential presidential candidate stand on the current administration?

"George Bush gave us Obama whether you like it or not. George Bush gave us Obama, without George Bush we don't have Obama. So I've never been a fan of George Bush."

Mr. Trump was then asked which Supreme Court Justice he most admires. He responded, "I know numerous of the Justices and I don't want to insult any of them to be honest with you by saying that I particularly admire one. There is one that I admire very much, but I don't want to insult anybody by discussing the one I most admire because I know a number of them." It would seem unlikely that any of the current Supreme Court Justices would be offended to learn that he or she had not been selected as Trump's favorite arbiter.

And in the wake of the Wisconsin law Governor Scott Walker signed on Friday, curtailing unions' power to bargain and collect union dues, Trump disclosed his allegiance to the guild.

"I grew up with unions. New York is largely union...I've had great relationships with unions and I've made good deals. I've made a lot of money, I mean, I've made billions of dollars and in many cases I've been dealing with unions. So really, collective bargaining doesn't bother me so much."

Donald Trump previously pondered a presidential bid in 1988 and again in 1999. As for 2012? The millionaire businessman promises a decision by early June.

----------------------------------------

I'd vote for him. He certainly can't ruin this country any worse than the last 2 presidents have.

"Trump: Like Him or Not, Saddam didn't put up with Terrorists"

[reading, immediately repulsed by the word "Trump," but reading on, begrudgingly accepting that he might have a point]

"Whether you like Saddam Hussein or not, and I don't - he was a bad guy - but he used to shoot terrorists, he use to kill them. He didn't give them a trial like in this country...he used to shoot terrorists and kill them."

[readi...facepalm]

People assume you're trolling because you can't be thinking very hard if you can't come up with reasons why the Taliban would be considered bad.

They dont kill innocents deliberately. They gun down corrupt ministers for supporting foreign forces and they dont kidnap minorities without any reasons. Taliban get blamed for a lot of stuff they dont do.

Really?

People who know Mullar Omar say he's a very calm person and would never do such things he is blamed of. Your link says

"In 1998, when the Taliban captured the northern city of Mazar-e Sharif, they massacred hundreds of residents, "often shooting Hazaras in the street," according to Human Rights Watch. That massacre was seen as reprisal for a 1997 massacre by Hazaras of an estimated 2,000 surrendered Taliban fighters"

That seems more like revenge which is something rooted deeply in Afghani culture, you cant blame Taliban alone for it. Your link also says Pakistan is involved in these massacres along with Bin Laden. what a load of BS.

Oh, how stupid of me.

The Taliban gets a pass for mudering all those people guys, because Harisemo thinks it seems more like revenge killings, which is ok apparently, as Harisemo says it's Afghani culture. Thanks for clearing that up.

I think the Taliban are not complete scumbags now. I could probably relate about how they use child soldiers, how they oppress women and murder homosexuals, how they blew up the Buddhas of Bamiyan and claimed credit for it because they were non-Islamic idols, or how they finance themselves with stockpiles of heroin. I'm sure these would all be dismissed as cultural foibles and misunderstandings though.

Good troll otherwise.

No, he does this every four years and it never, ever goes anywhere. It's just the usual "oh, let's get a popular rich guy to say he's going to clean up politics, then drop him because he has no electability and hope that enough holdovers stick around to vote for whomever we actually do nominate."

It is revenge killings but im not saying its ok, just saying dont blame the Taliban alone. Taliban recruit anyone that can fight to defend their country which might include young people but young people fought against soviets and nobody complained so why now? Oppression of women and murdering homosexuals is another thing that is in their cultural so again dont blame Taliban, blame their culture!.

As you know intially Taliban said that they would leave the buddha statues alone and they didso UNTIL scholars started putting pressure on Mullah Omar that they should blow the statues. The scholars were annoyed by the fact that children were dying of malnutrition while foreign teams were wasting money on repairing the statues.

Taliban also did all they could to kill off drug production when they were in power but now that war is being waged on them they need money so they have no other option but to allow drugs.

I dont think it is right to blame Taliban for things embedded in their culture.

I wouldn't say I liked him or that he was good, but he did keep things in control in the middle east. Personally I think there was a larger picture, for his ousting, that has yet to be revealed. I am a consperacy theorist sometimes to so...

Funny, considering how Saddam Hussein was the biggest terrorist in the middle east at the time.

He used to shoot and gas citizens, not terrorists. Not only that, he supported terrorists i.e. Hamas.

Remember that Ronald Reagan considered the Taliban to be courageous freedom fighters, standing for freedom against the oppressive russians. He viewed them like a type of Founding Fathers for Afghanistan. Maybe they had more in common with them than most americans now want to acknowledge :P

Like most genocidal dictators, Saddam didn't put up with some terrorists, but would put up with, harbor, and even aid others. His point is factually incorrect. But more importantly, why is he making this point in the first place? Saddam didn't have a "terrorism" policy, he had a dissident policy, and nothing about it was admirable.

Saddam did what Ghaddafi is doing right now - killing who he believes are terrorists (ie... people that disagree with him and want change)

So if Trump is president, and someone disagrees with him and wants a new president, he'll simply order the US military to kill him and his family.

Good to know.

(This is why I go to the Borgata and never go near any Trump buildings in Atlantic City...)
