It's like the TSA actively wants us to hate them. A 95 year old woman with cancer was given a pat down and was made to remove her diaper. I honestly have no words for this.

Perhaps others in OT do though.

Shoe bombs have happened. I wouldn't be surprised about a diaper bomb.

In this kind of climate, you can never take too many chances. I know, i know, people will say how heartless the TSA is. But when you guys complain and the TSA is forced to stop doing these searches, don't be surprised if a terrorist gets a heads up and commits yet another terrorist attack thanks to lack of TSA searches.

Is it? Terrorists have used pregant women before. It wouldn't be surprising if they used a ninety-five year old woman.

She's free to wear a diaper. However for the security for everyone she should be searched, We shouldn't have to wait for an elderly lady to suicide bomb a plane from her diaper before we can search the elderly.

Do they make everyone remove their underwear? If not...she's got a case. Oh and I wasn't talking individual freedom. Plus...I think everyone should be stripped naked and given a full body search before boarding the plane...in public. And the screeners shoudl not wear concealment either...so no clothes for them either. Level playing field after all.

Different circuit but the 9th circuit of appeals ruled this in 2007:

U.S. airline passengers near the security checkpoint can be searched any time and no longer can refuse consent by leaving the airport, the nation's largest federal appeals court ruled Friday.

Thedecisionby the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the circuit's 34-year-old precedent that over time was evolving toward limiting when passengers could refuse a search and leave the airport after they had checked their bags or placed items on the security screening X-ray machine. Citing threats of terrorism, the court ruled passengers give up all rights to be free of warrantless searches once a "passenger places hand luggage on a conveyor belt for inspection" or "passes though a magnetometer."

It doesn't look like she has a case based on that.

Or, Rather than being ignorant and profiling, they search anyone who they deem is a possible threat. Meanwhile searching everyone quickly via metal detectors and other scanners.

For all you know, someone called in a bomb threat saying an old lady in a wheelchair had a bomb in her diaper. This lady fit that profile. Article doesn't give enough details.

There are no limits to where someone can hide a bomb. If there's reason to believe there could be a bomb/weapon in this lady's diaper, then yes, they were allowed to make her take off the underwear.

You know when a person is arrested...they are searched. They do not make the person take off their underwear. There are limits.

There are no limits to where someone can hide a bomb. If there's reason to believe there could be a bomb/weapon in this lady's diaper, then yes, they were allowed to make her take off the underwear.

You missed the point.

[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] And bombs can be detected other ways.....I asked a question which no one replied to. Do they require passengers to take their underwear off as a matter of policy? If not...they discriminated against her.LJS9502_basic

That's why airports have full body scanners. :? That sees everything. Including what's under your underwear.

You know that's not the same thing...right?

Lets see. They look at whats under your underwear virtually or in reality. Totally different.

Of course it's totally different from being scanned and having to undress. That's not even a question.

No i didn't. The TSA IS allowed to strip search people if they feel there's a reason to do so. They felt something suspicious on this woman's leg, and when no-one could explain what it was,so they searched her.

What if they didn't search, and she had a bomb? "Arg the TSA isn't doing their jobs, blah blah blah" The TSA is there for a reason.

what about rectums? What if someone hid a bomb up there? Would it become normal for TSA officers to search up a person's rectum? I hate to argue slippery slopes, but since old ladies are getting told to remove their diapers and all.

Hence why I said everyone should be stripped and body searched. Seems to be what OT wants anyway...

And in both cases, it's not illegal.

Ah so if we have scanners and metal detectors to find this out....why was it necessary to make an old woman remove her clothes? Now you see what's wrong with this?
