Yeah.. so contrary to what their spokesperson in the CBS article said, they're testing the drinks that people bought inside the airport, PAST the TSA checkpoint. Nothing to worry about. It's all for security folks.

well at least it's a less embarrassing way to go about things even if it's just as intrusive. It beats giving old ladies a strip search or not letting a baby get through security because it has the same name as a terrorist.

If this will prevent a dangerous scenario's formation, I think this is okay. Personally, I believe that technological upgrades to the infrastructure of airports such as computer sensors and a sterilization zone will possibly be more efficient and seem less invasive to travelers.

I don't mind airport security, but i hate the attitude that it approaches people with. It seems like for airports and the staff, it's less about safety of other passengers and more paranoia that everyone could be a terrorist. All the security at every airport i've been too looks and talks so hostile like everyone is up to no good.

I don't think you get it. They still do that too. They're just trying to exert more control and intimidate people with more meaningless "security" measures. The police state continues to form.

This is pretty annoying for certain. Luckily I don't travel by air, the TSA is an utter joke in my book.

We are damn well already in a police state, it's just a "soft" police state at the moment, but that won't last forever. Once sh*t kicks into high gear the attitude will change dramatically.

Who cares. Why do you even need to bring a drink with you on an airplane? Your fatass can wait until you land to fill your body with sugary garbage.

There's isn't enough alcohol in an entire airport let alone a single plane to make me not hate trans Atlantic flights. I'm not looking forward to trans-pacific.

That'd be great. Considering that they've literally done nothing to help with security. There's been more weapons and bombs snuck past security since the establishment of the TSA than there was before.

Aljosa23

How do you know they weren't drinking water or tea? :?

Not to mention the fact that most of the drinks were probably going to be finished or in the garbage before boarding the flight anyways. They were literally approaching people sitting down in the gate area and demanding that they have their drink tested.

What point is this? As far as I'm aware they already check your luggage and go through your personal belongings as you wait to get on the plane. Hell, they even confiscate outside drinks and no one gives a sh1t.

And it needs to be changed. If I buy a ticket from a company to travel somewhere, the government has no right to search me without probable cause. We've allowed this to go way too far. Not to mention that the TSA hasn't done a damn bit of good.

It's the classic freedoms vs. safety argument, and I really don't think there's a simple answer. I don't like them doing this either, and honestly so many TSA workers are just people who couldn't get another job in power and want to control someone, but at the same time, if there is some sort of serious threat that these drinks could pose then I guess...What exactly is the logic for testing the drinks TC, is there some sort of homemade bomb threat?

Homemade bomb? They bought the drinks in the terminal. I can see no logic to it at all. Just sinister control freaks doing what they can to harass people.

Yeah.. so contrary to what their spokesperson in the CBS article said, they're testing the drinks that people bought inside the airport, PAST the TSA checkpoint. Nothing to worry about. It's all for security folks.

I was flying back from Helsinki airport a while back and actually had a good time. Nice pub there, good restaurant, had some venison, white wine, and other drinks, bought a film magazine to read on the way back and was able to ignore the screaming child behind me while on the plane.
