Boxer briefs. Briefs don't cover enough and boxers are too loose and free, I might as well be wearing nothing at all. Boxerbriefs give me the best of both worlds.

Go to the beach wearing speedo or brief type swimsuits and you are immediately pegged as a tourist or worse. It's not about being or not being an American though I know most Europeans love the speedo style of swimsuit. There are some things one shouldn't wear at the beach.

The europeans wearing speedos is a really small minority. The european+speedo stereotype has no truth to it.

Dude, in case you haven't guessed, I'm european, I'm not imagining all of this. I've been going to european beaches every summer for over a decade now, how do you explain what I've seen?

I can't, but going to the beach in The Netherlands (or watching people go to the pool in my hotel) showed me what guys wear.

Yes?
Spain? Greece? Portugal? France? All of them have world class beaches
I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of Australian beaches. Where the sand is softer, water is nicer and the jellyfish keep to themselves.

How do you know the guys you saw wearing speedos were all europeans and not transcontinental tourists?
How many Americans do you think would go to Vlissingen in the Netherlands? Most would go to Amsterdam (though I want to go back to Arnhem and Nijmegan for a longer visit).

Yet there you sit in your dimly-lit room, stationed infront of your pc, browsing this forum.
I think I'll take the appeal of the australian beaches with a grain of salt.

I'll have you know I'm lying down, the room isn't lit and I'm multi-tasking this forum with Youtube and a semi-erotic MSN conversation.

Where do our beaches suck?
victoria definately, ive been to sydney ones (not bondi) and they werent that great and ive been to surfaces paradise and it was nothing special.Briefs or comando. I hate how boxers "bunch" up. I will admit boxers look better than briefs, but who really cares? Unless you wear your pants on your feet.

victoria definately, ive been to sydney ones (not bondi) and they werent that great and ive been to surfaces paradise and it was nothing special. Why would you go to a beach in Victoria? Let alone the state. Sydney beaches have been metaphorically raped by tourism and Surfer's is pretty average. You need to go to places like Nelson Bay, or pretty much anywhere in W.A. from what I hear. Also, you don't sound like the beach going type. There's also a lot of unknown beaches near my area which are excellent, apart from seasonal swarms of blue bottles.

I think I met a couple of Germans there. I know some Belgians drove across the border (at least for work). Still, I can think of better places to go to the beach in Europe than Vlissingen. Even in July and August, it is not warm enough to me to put on swim trunks and head to the beach. The south of France or Spain would be better if ya ask me. Maybe one day.

South of france and spain are both excellent locations. (:
California has some pretty awesome beaches. I liked Huntington Beach personally. Laguna Beach was pretty cool and offered some pretty big waves for body surfing. Camp Pendleton becomes a nude beach just inside the fence from San Onefre State Beach (people trespass, but no one really bothers them) and made for some great viewing while doing externals at mat 5 if it wasn't all swinging meat.
Who wears underwear to beaches anyway? :?How this thread turned from underwear to America to Europe to Beaches is beyond me.

Europe has good beaches if you're into that whole "safety" thing. A lot of surfers seem to prefer coming here and Hawaii, and I think we can all agree Pacific >> Atlantic.

Briefs remind me of speedo swimsuits, something I would never wear to the beach.
