Ugh, Youtube is full of AMV videos...

I don't get why people love to put those AMusic Videos all the time, they're really lame. I don't know how or when such a trend started.

Of course, I don't really like music to begin with, so these "tributes" are lost on me. Is anyone familiar with the context of their origins, or is this an unexplained event?

What's even more sad is that some people actually think they're good. I can take a random song and put it over random clips of Dragon Ball Z and some people would see it as art.

I hate most of those AMV's.

I only like it if the song and the video match. Seeing a song by My Chemical Romance and clips of Naruto doesn't do it for me. >_>

Good ones do exist that actually match scenes and lyrics or music nicely. Unfortunately, since any amateur can post something on YouTube, there's a whole bunch of lousy videos.The fact that like in real life, popularity and social networking are a greater factor than quality in getting views reinforces mediocrity.

I also saw gameplay videos with game music and sounds replaced with music by (insert band/artist here). That's similar to AMV's, and I don't like it when people do that. I only like it if I hear the actual game music and sounds.AwesomeKenny

Videos like this one are actually fun to watch, IMO.

I like some of them and even made a few myself. I once made an AMV of Radar Love (Golden Earring) using clips from the original 70's movie Vanishing Point. Song and video matched up very well. But, copyright issues got in the way. So, I had to delete it from YT.

Yeah I know what you mean here. Every time I want to see a short scene from a tv show, it always have to have bad music in it for this tribute crap. I mean who enjoys this?

I don't watch them but I don't really see the problem with them. It's just something people enjoy making.

used to LOVE AMVs, now they annoy me because I'm usually looking to just watch a specific fight from naruto and they're in AMV form.. really annoying and forces me to watch full episodes on hulu

Ugh I effing hate them. Sometime I want to see a certain fight or scene and I literally have to go through dozens of s***y AMVs to find them.

I've seen a couple AMVs of that song too, but not as many as Blow me Away. No idea why people deem that as one of their best songs. :?

I don't mind good ones, but it irks me because youtube is flooded with the same recycled crap. Putting a track over a pre-made video is not clever, however those who edit it accordingly and add nice effects and really put an effort into it are excellent. It's a shame they get mired down with generic FF/DBZ-Linkin Park-Evanescence-mashup whores.

Are we talking about people putting together some clips from a specific show or game to go along with a short song? If so I really don't see how anybody could even get irritated by that.Nifty_Shark
