I know its been around for a good while, but I'm curious how many other posters are into the Hip Hop coming out of England.

The best known here are The Streets and Lady Sovereign

Most people I talk to look at me funny when I bring it up, am I just wierd or have others seen that hip hop has transcended countries and taken hold

Also those that are fans, who do you recommend, its hard to find good Uk (and all euro) rap. Lets hear some love.

If you hate all hip hop please don't flame. This isn't a forum about radio rap, its about world hiphop and what hip hop can be (and is).

I love The Streets.  Mike Skinner's very enjoyable to listen to, although I really wish he'd go back to the smoothness of Original Pirate Material.  The production's better, but I just like his old flow more.  I also enjoy listening to Dizzee Rascal.  I haven't heard from him in a while, though, since Showtime. Does he have a new one out, or working on a new one?  I also like Ms. Dynamite, although she's more of a singer.

I agree, I love some of his later songs, but they show that overproduction can cloud a stong voice.  I'll check out more Dizee, I've only heard a tracck or two.  The beauty of the early garage is that the vocalist had to make up for the short comings of the track (though they were still great).  Thanks.

I just listened to it, its why I posted this.  Anyone who has faced unexpected heartbreak can hear thier pain in the track.  Hehe, call it hiphop emo.   I mean that in a good way.

Dizzee Rascal just did a song with UGK on his new album Maths and English called Where's Da G's. Anyways I'm not a fan of most hip-hop out of the UK...

Hip-Hop is really weak in the UK, imo. But they do have Dub, which is quite possibly the most awesome genre ever.

I was liking it until it got to Bun B.  I really don't like him.

I really love the streets. Mike is probably the best lyricist I heard.

Dizzee is great as well, though he makes grime and dance, not UK garage :). You can stream his new album from http://3voor12.vpro.nl/luisterpaal/ .

The Streets are okay but I only listen to a song or two and move on. Gets annoying otherwise.

Although I tend to disagree (can't stand Bun B, so he loses by default), it's nice to see some rappers being outrapped on their own songs NOT be little *****es like a certain letter L got killed by a certain letter C.

Yeah I listen to it, theres alot of good talent; Lethal Bizzle, Roll Deep, Dizzee Rascal, Kano, im rarely in the mood for the Streets though, kinda brings my mood down a bit :) UK hip hop is kinda making a mockery out of the American scene right now.
