The blatant lie that is "global warming" continues to plummet to its well-deserved death. Maybe Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world can focus on real issues that actually matter now.

Which real issue do you think should take priority?

I think we need to focus on figuring out a way to become indepedent from Middle Eastern oil without causing massive job losses.

Yeah, I wish they'd start drilling in Alaska. Then we would have our own Oil. We don't need to be giving money to the Middle East.

Someone else made one a week or so ago. This is an update on the situation.

I couldn't find the old thread.

Or we could, ya know, stop using oil?

I don't know who to listen to these days. One side says global warming is caused by humans, the other side says it's all natural (humans have little to no effect on the enviroment). :?

Its both. Humans don't help, but it takes 100 years of smoke stacks shooting nasty stuff into the air to equal ONE volcanic eruption in terms of enviromental damage.

Right. It was someone else. Either way, our practice of burning oil into the air to get from one place to the next (at least how we do it now) has to be reformed. Regardless of its effects on 'warming'.

There isn't that much oil in Alaska, after we build up the infastructure to transport the oil and all that it would hardly be worth it. I believe I read it was maybe a 5 year supply of oil up there.

It changes nothing. Simple fact is, we need to stop burning fossil fuels. Is that not an agreed fact right now?

Also, the Telegraph is not reporting this as 'news'. It's allowing a guy to write his opinion in an article.

There isn't that much oil in Alaska, after we build up the infastructure to transport the oil and all that it would hardly be worth it. I believe I read it was maybe a 5 year supply of oil up there.

  • Nearly 11 billion barrels of undiscovered oil and 19 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered gas in the region may be recoverable using existing technology.
  • Relatively large volumes of undiscovered oil may exist offshore central and southern California, due largely to the presence of Monterey-type strata, which are potential source and reservoir rocks.
  • Half of the undiscovered, conventionally recoverable oil and gas in the region may be economically recoverable under existing conditions

I found this on:http://www.anwr.org/features/akeval.htm

Hopefully somebody will find a way to use Garbage or something as Gas in the near future.

If the Canadian and US governments began to utilise Oil Sands to their fullest extent then they have have source of oil that is far greater than that of the Middle East. The only thing that is hindering it at the moment is the cost and the pollution that it causes to extract it.

I still fail to see why any of this matters (nevermind the fact one can argue that at least part of "climategate" is taken out of context). Anthropogenic climate change or not, cutting down on pollution isn't a bad thing.

Yes i agree but they were ostracising "climate change deniers" (climatologists) and depicting humans as polluters because they breathe. The climate change politics were getting out of control. It would be nicer if we prepared ourselves to survive an extremely hot, dry, cold or wet period than all this political mumbo jumbo and money snatching. Cause that is going to happen eventually, we don't need no pollution for that.

The issue about drilling in Alaska is that the oil us underneath a wildlife reserve. Global warming being real or not doesn't change this.

It does change something. If climate change has been overblown out of proportion than the Cap and Trade bill is pretty much thievery. Not to mention the huge market that has been built around "Green Products" like hybrid cars.

The majority of green products do not involve global warming. Most of them involve using recycled products and chemicals that are not poisonous and toxic.

As for hybrid cars, they only really got popular after gas prices soared.

I remember arguing with people about global warming and how ridiculous the "global warming is going to kill us all" crap was. Hopefully this will FINALLY put that BS to rest.

Don't get me wrong, I am very much for protecting the environment in every way possible and don't need some alarmist BS to appreciate our environment and how fragile it is. My issue here is that people were making careers on spreading lies and I just hate stupidity in general.

Now I just hope that people won't be dumb enough to just stop going green because global warming is a lie....

"Climategate" has been greatly exaggerated, and it really isn't anything that global warming deniers make it out to be. All it really is are a few sentences taken from thousands of emails, some are rude and in bad taste, others quoted out of context, but none are evidence of any sort of scandal or hoax.

The US does have lovely resources

Look at this from theCongressional Research Servicethat was released a few days ago. Also, dont forget the recent massive discovery ofgas

The supply impact has been dramatic. In the lower 48, states thought to be in decline as a natural gas source, production surged an astonishing 15% from the beginning of 2007 to mid-2008. This increase is more than most other countries produce in total.

Equally dramatic is the effect on U.S. reserves. Proven reserves have risen to 245 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) in 2008 from 177 Tcf in 2000, despite having produced nearly 165 Tcf during those years. The recent increase in estimated U.S. gas reserves by the Potential Gas Committee, representing both academic and industry experts, is in itself equivalent to more than half of the total proved reserves of Qatar, the new LNG powerhouse. With more drilling experience, U.S. estimates are likely to rise dramatically in the next few years. At current levels of demand, the U.S. has about 90 years of proven and potential supply—a number that is bound to go up as more and more shale gas is found.

I saw this coming from a mile away, Al "d-bag" Gore is make some massive profits off the scam that is global warming and he needs to be brought down, the ****ing hypocrite.

I never bought in to global warming to begin with but this is just another nail in the coffin proving people like Alex Jones were right all along...

Usually in science, it's hard facts and data that prove things wrong, not politicians.
