The United States has won 37 medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics, which is the highest amount ever won by any country. To those of you who might say "well, Canada and Germany had more golds," guess what? Most of the bronze and silver medals are either a few hundredths of a second, a slight judging bias, or any amount of miniscule factors away from being golds. The United States has proven once again that it can produce more top athletes overall than any other country in the world, and that it encourages its athletes to follow their dreams without the use of any coercive measures or government-initiated programs.

Not only that, but the United States has set this record at one of the most disorganized, disorderly, haphazard, deficient winter olympic games in history. Congratulations to the United States on this achievment.

Wait. If "Most of the bronze and silver medals are either a few hundredths of a second, a slight judging bias, or any amount of miniscule factors away from being golds", aren't the 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. places either a few hundredths of a second, a slight judging bias, or any amount of miniscule factors away from being bronze and silver?
 flawed logic.
and all the athletes in the Olympics are "top athletes". It's kind of how you make it to the Olympics. >_________>

Either way, congrats USA,
and congrats Canda for breaking the record for the most goals

yes those shots at Canada in your post are not obvious at all. Everyone knows the weather in Vancouver is very mild, which was somewhat confusing as to why they got the Games anyway.

It does not matter Canada got the most Golds ever by a country, and that was with some athletes underperforming. Yes the States did great coming away with the most medals and my hat is off to ya, but dont try and undermine what Canada did

Because last Winter we had over 3 feet of snow, although the temperature is mild most of the time, we do get enough snow to host the olympics. In fact, this is polar opposite of last winter. Take this into consideration, the local 3 mountains (Cypress, Grouse, Seymour) where a bunch of the events are held, usually never close due to lack of snow during December- February. Whistler is always stellar.

I dont get the whole "we got more gold so we better" arguement, okay you got more gold medals, but overall both the US and Germany did better in more events and visited the podium more times, who cares they weren't all gold. I'd rather come in second and third place 28 times and 9 golds then only win 26 medals in total.

Sorry buddy but that is not the case. USA are far from impressive if you consider the amount of athletes they brought to the game. The only reason they won so many medals is because USA also has the most number of athletes.

Here is the table:

USA - 215 Athletes - (Gold 9) (Silver 15) (Bronze 13) Total = 37

Germany - 153 Athletes -(Gold 10) (Silver 13) (Bronze 7) Total = 30

Canada - 206 Athletes -(Gold 14) (Silver 7) (Bronze 5) Total = 26

South Korea - 46 Athletes -(Gold 6) (Silver 6) (Bronze 2) Total = 14

Germany & South Korea did far better than USA if you consider the amount of medals they won with the amount of athletes they had. USA only won big cause they had a big number of athletes and there is a higher chance of you getting the most medals. It's even more impressive if you look at the Gold medals tally. Germany won more Gold medals than USA and they had 62 athletes less. South Korea won 6 medals only 3 short of USA but they had a massive 169 less athletes at the games.

And Gold is also far more important than Silver, Bronze.

Gold>>>>Silver>>>>Bronze

Agreed. Each country did something great, so I don't see the reason why either needs to compete with each other.

.. Its not neccesarly that its just sad how people are argueing about it, as if they were personally responsible in some way to earning the medal.
