Things are heating up with the United States and Iran in the past weeks, so whats your thoughts if the U.S wages war on Iran?KillaHalo2o9
flee!
Won't happen. Our military is already stretched pretty thin and the only way we would have enough manpower for something like that would be to instate a draft. Which would be political suicide.eo12601
Yup and I would run of to my family in Mexico.
If for one reason or another, the US were to engage in war with Iran, it would be a bloody mess. They're quite advanced in terms of military if I'm not mistaken. It won't be another cakewalk like IraqKritical_Strike

Not really. Saddam's professional army was defeated in 3 weeks, and the insurgency hasn't really done severe damage to the forces there.

The conventional war was a cakewalk compared to pervious conflicts. (In regards to the American casualties versus Iraqi casualties)
No offense intended to any of those in the military.
I don't think it's as likely right now as it has been at other points. That whole naval encounter was really the only provocative thing that's happened in a while. I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.fidosim

because they are too busy killing themselves...bunch of idoits.
I don't want any more wars. And don't talk about who will "win". Nobody wins in wars, one side just loses less.xenos4
Hate to break it to you bud, but as long as humans exist, wars will exist.
On a philosophical note, would we really value peace if we never knew war?

Nah, a good number of South American countries would be a good place to be in case of a nuclear war, not to mention Africa might look pretty tempting, after all I would rather have skirmishes then radioactive mushroom clouds.
someone give me a story of whats going on...how are things heating up...what did we do to piss them off or what did they do to piss us off??????????????????HellRazer360

My thoughts: If all this gets large enough we will be bombed and we wont even know what happened because we would be dead.

Maybe, I would definately stay away from Europe and the mainland US, China, Russia, and innumerable other countries. New Zealand would probably be nice but I have a sinking suspicion that if I tried going there in such a scenario I would get there just in time for the nuke.
Not really. One overly hyped story means we are going to war with Iran? nope.rimnet00
I'm still trying to figure out what five speedboats would have done against something like a destroyer or a carrier, about the only way they could do anything is strap it full of explosives like what happened to the USS Cole.

Yea, Iraq was such a cakewalk. Maybe you don't realise the U.S. doesn't ACTUALLY control all of Iraq, local leaders and islamic insurgents still are fighting all over, especially in the south. US troops die everyday while we bleed billions of dollers a day fighting the war. Iraq was no cakewalk, it still isn't over bud. We need to get stability and set up a democratic, stable government to "win", which is no where in sight.

They wouldn't have done anything. Our Navy is the best in the world.

Exactly, but the Iranian Republican Gaurd is not Al Qaeda. All I see it as is some Iranian soldiers playing chicken with the US soldiers.

Makes one wonder when/if the draft will come back into play.

Do you remember how WWI was started? Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire was assasinated. But this isn't the real reason the war started. Tensions between European countries is what really started the war. The assasination of Franz Ferdinand was just an excuse to start the war. This is how the war between Iran and the US will start, if indeed there is one. The way the Spanish-American war started is also similar.

It took more than 10 years for the US to setup it's government after the Revolution. No one thought we could do it and they laughed at us. In fact, we almost fell apart. Creating a stable government and starting a democracy is no easy task, it takes time and patience. You can't expect this to happen over night.
