I used to be the life of the party. Oh, I'd date occassionally and hit the club scene but now I'm on my Xbox 360 so much that I never see anyone. I can't even talk to women anymore. I've lost the golden touch with women! Is it me or are video games to blame? I feel they made me this way.

So has the same happened to you?

True, but the "are video games addictive" might be actually true.If it is true then what should happen? Warnings on the front of boxes might help!

it is "actually" addictive. Self-control is the answer. And when things like this happen, blaming it on the console doesn't help XDDD

:| It's still not the video games fault. You can get addicted to doing lots of things, that doesn't mean they need a warning label.

Not for me. You can play videogames everyday and maintain a social life, but you have to moderate yourself. Too much of anything is a bad thing.

I usually play videogames with friends either on PC or on xbox live. That being said, I don't really go out all that much. I only go out for pre-arranged things like a day paintballing etc. The idea of either sitting in someone elses house and "hanging" doesn't appeal to me.

You know, I've always been a console gamer, and in a way, I'm glad online console gaming wasn't big when I was in college. And now I'm just too busy with life to ever get addicted to it

I know how to balance my time... I know how to prioritize. I have a great social life and a great gaming life. It's all about balance.

Its just what I do instead of human contact sometimes. Books are also in this category as well as playing with my animals.

It almost the opposite for me I haven't been playing a whole lot like used to when I was younger, now it is nothing but going out with the soon to be wife shopping, movies, restaurants or walking aimlessly downtown while she window shops. Wish I could just have one day of non-stop gaming lol

You know, its actually sorta true. I used to play videogames a lot, and when I did, I didnt have that much of a social life(just went out like once every 2 weeks...it was horrible when i was addicted to MPO, I played that so much...so much time wasted)

I barely play games anymore now, go out 3-5 times a week, and am just really good with people now and pretty well liked and known around my school now I guess.

I dunno if its cause of video games or because that just when I started hanging out more, I just had less time for video games. So I dunno, its definately correlated but dunno abt a causal relationship(yes statistics haha)

No I wouldn't say they have made me a recluse. I am who I am because I enjoy it. I've never particulary craved social interaction as much as alot of my friends but that doesn't mean I'm anti-social. I still go out to bars and pubs it's just that I tend to set aside more time to myself and my hobbiesthan to going out. Theres nothing wrong with that.

I think with things live XBL it could actually help you talk to your friends more. Although, games can be addicting, hence the reason I don't play Civilization anymore.

I am a very serious gamer. I have a girlfriend, I am looking for a new job (got bored with my old one and need more money to move out), am almost finished my B.A. in university and love spending time with people.

Guess its not video games' fault you are a social recluse then TC.

Just stay away from online games, those are much more addicting that just plane games, trust me, when it comes to playing single player games, I pretty much have to get myself to play it, but online its like boom... I dont get it, but I did a six page paper on this thing. Anyways being a social recluse aint that bad, no bad pressure, you make better decisions in life, and you can be yourself without feeling judged at all. I aint a social reluse, but I don't see my friends all the time, just every once in a while. But, now I just got a job, and my friend is workign there in the same place, so so much for that:P.

It's a lot easier to blame video games, but I think you have to blame yourself for allowing yourself to get that into Xbox. I have had a 360 since launch, and I do play a fair amount, but I still have friends and go out a lot. It's all about time management.

Video games aren't as addictive as people think, they're just an easy outlet to escape some realities that an individual would rather not face. Insecurity, paranoia, depression, and fear in general can lead to becoming a social recluse. Its far easier to stay inside and play a game than it is to coordinate social plans, talk to girls, and deal with social drama, therefor, you choose video games.

It's true that video games have made me less social, but I try to keep a balance. It helps that my friends and I can chat over Xbox Live and in the MMOs we play.
