I am taking a poll, if you must know I personally say its all a waste of time, All the so called scientific proof is just as easily dismissed as bunk.

It depends , adults should be able to make their decisions on what they want to buy with their hard earn money. The adults with children that play video games , should watch their children and dictate rather it's appropriate to play or not. Worry about their children only.

There's already age ratings on the covers, so if soccer mum Alice is angry that little timmy is gunning people down in a game then she shouldn't have bought it for him

I liked the part where scientists don't have common sense.

if you don't want your children playing violent games then don't buy them.

but don't try to bring your opinion down on everyone else. you be the parent of your own children and leave others to parent their own.

-and why are all scientists in the same group as whining parents?

Subjecting children to such a sterilizing environment to the point in which violent video games become such an issue is, in my opinion, far more dangerous than said video games. Additionally, the abhorrently poor parenting displayed in situations like this is a huge problem; government going after video games ignores the primary problem: the parents (I find it hard to blame the government for responding to the voters, though)

There is no scientific proof to back up any of those "video games make people violent" claims. Any scientist that claims otherwise isn't a real scientist. Common sense would tell you there is no correlation between video games and violence, and any week correlation you might find (games are very popular, after all) don't imply causality.

It's not the games or movies, it's how the kids are growing up these days.

Hell, I've blown up houses in Bad Company 2, slit throats in Black Ops, blown whole islands to kingdom come in Just Cause 2 and I can honestly say I'm not a violent person.

Nutjobs with wise knowledge yet a lack of common sense will always find something to a start a bashing party with.

There should not be a violent video game controversy, it should instead be the bad parenting controversy. Just becouse some parents are useless meatbags does not mean there is a problem with video games. There are many conflicting studies on how violent vgs influence children, none of which are long term. There are many long term studies on the role that parents play in the development of their children.

Video games may not make people more violent, but it might give somebody a false sense of skill and knowledge on real life situations depending on the game they're good at. You would be surprised how many people I met that think because they're experts in Call of Duty that they'll be an expert sniper in real life or that going to war as Special Forces will be "fun" while going as far as insulting support troops as "wimps" who can't hang it in real life due to a lack of kills.

And this is coming from a guy who grew up when Senator Liberman was trying to ban violent video games based on Mortal Kombat's popularity and hated him with a passion. I still believe it's the parent's responsibility to watch what they buy for their kids. The main problem with the controversy is the fact that most of the anti-violence people still think of video games as a kids toy and consider violent video games as some perverted abomination similar to showing R-rated movies in preschool. I wrote a blog about it a few years back.

Lol violent people are violent. Video games don't do anything. Why are video games such a scapegoat?
