Woah cool I'm happy for the guy. He's had a great year and I think he deserves it. He's brought stability to his country and he has given Russia a new status to be proud for.

Yeah way to go Putin.
Of course he became person of the year all he had to do was call up Time Magazine and say (In Russian accent) "If I am not Person of Year... I will break you."
I have had respect for the guy ever since he told that one reporter that if he did'nt leave him alone he would slit his throat. That takes grande balls to say on national television in a country that elects their officials.
I had to flip through Fox News today while looking for something to watch and they were talking about this. As expected they were lambasting Time for naming him person of the year. Apparantly Fox News thinks that if a person isn't a full-out friend to America that they should never be objectively awarded for successes.gameguy6700
While this doesn't surprise me, this is one time where I really can't disagree with Fox News (frightening, yes, but true!).
I don't think he's unworthy because he dislikes the US, I think he's unworthy because the guy is basically trying to ramp up a new Cold War. Disagreeing with the policies of the US is one thing, but deliberately trying to start **** is something else entirely. Using dissemination of FUD and the threat of nuclear war is not really the sort of thing you want a person of the year to be doing.

I'm gonna look through youtube for however long it takes to find that clip! That's amazing.

Haha if you find it, tell me, that's gold.
Wow Time failed epically then.
The man scares the hell out of me. He seems to be TRYING to start a feud with us here in the USA and he has alot of issues with former spies and critics turning up dead in mysterious circumstances....

Too bad he later went on to raspberry some random little boy's chest. When questioned about it later Putin said "He was just too cute" or something to that degree. Its hard to be cool when you do something like that.

Time picks people of the year based on how influential they were. Putin, even if he isn't the most benevolent person on the planet, was rather influential this year considering all he's done for Russia.
There's actually a quote in Call of Duty 4 that is said by Putin.
"Anyone who doesn't miss the soviet union has no heart, anyone who want's it back, has no brain!"
Something like that anyone. I thought it was kinda funny, but I may have missinterpreted the quote, anyone know wht it really means? (I thought it was basically "the soviet union tried to do good, but ended up doing the exact opposite".)
can't find anything, tried "vladimir putin reporter" "vladimir putin FOX" "Vladimir Putin" and "Vladimir Putin Threat"
and I got nothing, those are just the things I tried that actually got results. Yet no actual clip, just...stuff...
ElArab
So did I. I remember hearing about it on the radio.
[QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"]times person of the year:

ElArab
I think Putin's response is funnier then what actually happened.
lol yeah. i was just gonna post the vid of him giving the kid a raspberry, but then i saw him calling the kid a little kitten he wanted to cuddle...
sweet! three cheers for Russia! i hope the US will learn something from this (i doubt they will though)MichaeltheCM
Learn what? That instead of fair elections and freedom of speech we should fully oppress the opposing party and eliminate any who stand in the way? That we should threaten countries we dont like with nuclear war? I dont think so...
 at the people who doesn't know who he is....educate yourselves.jointedOr watch some television.

Oh that's right, when someone you dont like get's elected, then we dont have fair elections....Ok then, yeah, didnt it suck when the democrats cheated in 2006? Stupid rigged voting machines. Pick an R and it changes to a D....

It doesn't take a genius to see that America's system of democracy can be manipulated.
Just as it is in Australia. ;)
(And no I am not bitter that Labor got elected as they're virtually exactly the same as the liberals.)
i do this guy is trying to restart Russian dictatorship and renew the cold war, he is a villain. But then again Time magazine picked Hitler and Stalin in the 30s so go figure. I agree with Dennis Miller that the U.S. Troops are the real people of the year. Bill O'reilly says Petraeus should have gotten the award.Woah cool I'm happy for the guy. He's had a great year and I think he deserves it. He's brought stability to his country and he has given Russia a new status to be proud for.
