See a dead body? Throw up. See a dead dog? Throw up. See someone getting tortured? Throw up. Any shocking or tenseful situation in movies has people throwing up. It's so overused now that it's lost its effectiveness on me and is just annoying and makes me . Anyone else feel the same way?

Don't people normally vomit when they see something especially gruesome? The way Rookie Cops always puke their first time at a murder scene is a bit cliche, though.

In movies or in the movie theater or something? Because I saw something like that when I was with my friends to see one of the Final Destinations I believe it was that movie... it wasn't even vomit worthy. :|

A look of disgust, and the person turns away... and the movie keeps going? The point i'm making is that vomitting doesn't have to be used all the god damned time.

My dad (A vet eran PO) says they usually just go really quiet and he tells them to take a breather and they just stand outside in shock for a bit, no vomiting he says.

Well, if you saw someone smashed infront of you, and you could smell their blood and the air being dispelled from their stomach and intestines, would you not puke? It may be overused but in certain circumstances its called for, not only that but when people die they void their bowels, so that only makes it worse because you have an image, and a fowl smell.

Well, it's not as lame as seeing someone with a mouth full of puke waiting for their cue to spit it out like mouthwash. A lot of the vomiting looks so fake and ridiculous. That's what really bothers me.

So you're saying actors should be able to projectile vomit on cue? I'm down with that.

But as an aside, I've often wondered what they hold in their mouth and how it tastes.

Yeah it's not as prevalent as it was a few years ago though. It used to be EVERY show had someone vomiting. It was trendy.

I'm just saying that there other ways to depict revulsion, and just having lame vomitting scenes weakens the movie. If you're going to do something like that, do it right. Hell, even a huge upchuck being heard off screen is better than a table spoon of some milky stuff being spit out like tobacco juice.

I suggest we replace it by zooming into a girls face and having her scream at the camera.

Yeah vomit scenes were the new sex scene of the early '00s. Totally awkward and doesn't make any sense to what's going on.

You know, it'd be okay if it was ACTUAL vomiting.

But usually, someone just bends over a toilet and makes some coughing noises. And that's lame.

Best use of vomiting I've seen recently is in the redband trailer for "I Love You, Man". Guys are sitting around chugging beer during a drinking game, and then the winner goes "Haha, In your face! In your fa...BLAARGH" and projectile vomits right in the dude's face.

That's some good vomiting right there.

If you're gonna have people vomiting in your movies, at least make them actually vomit.

Also, we need more spontaneous vomiting. Like, a movie where a waiter shows up to work sick after a night of binge drinking. He tries to get himself together, then he walks up to his table and says "Hello, my name is Chad and I'll be your waiter today. Would you like to start out with a glass of...BLAARGH!" Right on the table.

Hehe, see stuff like that I actually find tolerable. It's just when it becomes arbitrary and obligatory that I find it unnecessary.

My gosh! Everyday someone on OT is "tired" of something else! One day its their generation, another day is mainstream music, another its humanity, another its religion, now its vomiting?!? Are you f-ing serious? It actually bothers you that movies depict people throwing up? Get a freaking life man!

I miss those days  ......When I was in junior high I used to go to an old fashioned cinema who had a balcony..... If it was a horror movie, I prepared my special fake vomit........ with some ketchup, onions and mayonnaise.... Then I climbed up at the balcony,,,,,and made some Ughhhh....HUaaaa!!!! then I throwed my fake vomit into down the balcony..... GUESS WHAT ! Folks downstairs started vomiting for real.....

Never got caught....... Sadly you can't do that anymore.....that cinema closed a few years ago.

28 Days Later also had some excellent use of vomiting.

"RAARGH!!!.....ack...BLAARRGH!"

Furthermore, aside from Vomiting Zombies simply just being sort of awesome, the vomiting actually made sense within the contxt of the movie. And all without there having to be any explanation for why the zombies vomit.

1) Zombie was a human.

2) Human became a zombie after being infected by a virus.

3) The virus wants to spread to new hosts.

4) New hosts become zombies after coming in contact with bodily fluids from infected zombies.

5) Zombies vomit, in order to increase the likelihood of turning more people into zombies.

Not only are vomiting zombies badass and gross, but the whole idea of vomiting zombies makes so much sense that you can have zombies vomit at random moments without having to provide a shred of an explanation as to why they are vomiting. It's a zombie, it vomits, that's all the explanation that anyone ever needs.

I love the comedic value of a good technicolor yawn. Guest House Paradiso & Bad Taste are 2 that come to mind that are just brilliant. Oh yeah.... and who could forget the fat bloke in The Meaning of Life. Brilliant.
