cnn.com is reporting a serious confrontation btw Irans revolutionaly guards miliraty boats with US warships.
this could set the stage for a war against the last axis of evil.

I doubt this means anything. But it could be just prepping us for another phony war.
This sounds like another Gulf of Tonkin scenario.

We are over there. This would never happen if we were over here.
True, and the title of this thread is very misleading.
Are people **** stupid or something? Iran must know they don't stand a chance in hell, no matter how tied up the US is. And if Iran starts the war the United States allies would become involved.Guiltfeeder566
LOL last time i checked United States allies were running away from Iraq.

No they aren't stupid. This most likely is a manufactured threat, this happened over the weekend probably was our doing, and now its being twisted into something its not.
Learn history and how the Gulf of Tonkin was a staged event that justified the war in Vietnman, this sounds somewhat similar. Of course, I don't think this will add up to anything. As I said, this could be just psychological prepping that our govt is attempting to stage another useless costly war for profits.

Pearl Harbor was the same for WWII and 9/11 for Iraq...

If Iran initiated an attack on US interests in the Middle East, I can assure you that you'd see a very large Western response. The EU, having already shown their anger at Iran due to their controversial nuclear programme, would almost definitely be involved in some way. That includes troops from the UK, France and Germany, so the US is hardly going to be alone. If the US starts it all off, then other nations would probably be more inclined to stay out of it.

good point but do you think Russia and China would just sit their and let America take over Iran.

since when did 9/11 have anything at all to do with iraq? 9/11 is what prompted the attack on afghanistan. the invasion of iraq was to find the invisible weapons of mass destruction *cough*and oil*cough*[QUOTE="D9-THC"][QUOTE="PrimordialMeme"][QUOTE="Guiltfeeder566"]Are people **** stupid or something? Not to mention Israel. They've been waiting for an excuse to attack Iran for 30 years.Odd. It seems several seconds have passed since the posting of this thread, and there's still no war. :|pianist
Well that's not exactly what the TC said though :P...

Regardless of the tense he used, this was the implication. Far too alarmist. The only time war is seconds away is when the person declaring it is about to sign the declaration.
they got some nerve. Tjeremiah1988
Well a proper question would be why is our boats there in the first place. We have been an antagonist with Iran for over 30 years, so is sabre-rattling real intelligent when we already have two warzones on our hands? Not to mention a balooning national debt, so when will people wake up and realize that we can't afford war after war?

War with Iran would be very different from war with Iraq?
Considerably. First you have to contend with the fact that war inevitably brings about the deaths of those who support you through bombing runs, and missle strikes. So essentially you are creating a new breed of people who hate you that more then likely were either indifferent or loved you. Second Iran is a larger land mass, plus if we keep attacking Islamic nations without cause we will probably find out what a nice holy war will feel like. Not to mention it would throw Iraq into an even larger mess, Afghanistan would become worse because it would fan the fundementalist flames in Pakistan even more so then usual. And as usual our politicians will sit in safety while the men & women in our armed forces suffer needlessly.
