Re-watching it (at this very moment) and quite enjoying it.

Yes.
It started out okay, but went downhill very quickly once they started alluding to the symbiote. Then it showed up and made the Venom fan inside me cry. I watched it again with the other two a year ago and while the first one was still great, the second one was less enjoyable than I remembered it and the third was as bad as I remember it.
This makes sense in the plot though, the symbiotic suit inflated his ego and removed inhibitions. Always found it weird how people bashed "emo" Peter.
Well...it wasn't that good. There are worse films out there, but one viewing was more than enough for me. I couldn't even make it through the latest Spider-Man movie.
I got tired of Tobey Maguire after 2, but at least his goofy dance moves in 3 led to some great gifs. Andrew Garfield might come off as a bit smug, but he is nimble and athletic and is a much better fit for Spiderman.
Also, Tobey's narration/inclusion ruined The Great Gasby for me.
It was pretty awful, definitely sits along with Green Lantern as the worst Marvel/DC comic book movie since X-Men laid out he basic formula for modern Superhero films in 1999. The entire thing was cringeworthy and awkward to watch.

Hated the new Spiderman movie, it's worse than Spiderman 3 imo. At least Spiderman 3 has many of Sam Ramies zest, energy and sense of fun. Too bad he isn't doing the Warcraft movie anymore.

I recently watched the new Spiderman. All I could do was think to myself do I really have to sit thru Peter Parker's origin story AGAIN!!!!!!
Never did understand the hate for Spider-Man 3.
Me either. It's really enjoyable to me .

At least it hasn't been done as many times as Batman.

From memory, the only live action movie that has done it i Batman Begin. Mask Of Phantam (sort of) is an origin story.

Especially since it's such as small part of the movie. People who let a silly two minute scene ruin an entire movie must have a hard time having fun.
In all honesty, it's one of those comic book-y movies that doesn't work that well. In a comic, those type of multi-villain brawls are fine because (usually) all the villains are clearly established in previous iterations. Whereas in this movie, the villains just kind of show up, with a hand wave explanation.
(fanboy freak out in 3,2,1) I was okay with the entire movie. One thing killed it for me: they handled venom so poorly! My favorite spider-man villain get like 15 minutes of fucking screen time. I cannot describe how let down I was and how hyped I was for Venom. It was fucking atrocious, like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. That movie gave me cinematic blue balls......as you can imagine I am extremely eager for the Venom movie to let off this 7+ year load. I just really really hope they don't **** it up. From what i hear so far (THEY MIGHT ALSO HAVE CARNAGE!!! DOUBLE SYMBIOTE WIN) its gonna be boss as hell. I wanna get hyped, but ever since SP3 I have been afraid too:P
It was until I saw the reboot. The exact same thing happened with Terminator 3. I thought it was bad then after seeing salvation I thought T3 was good.
It was bad on pretty much every level. here's a list of handy pros and cons to illustrate what the film did right and what it did wrong.
pros:
- The Black Costume looked good
- The simplicity with which the symbiote was introduced was well done. There was no way they could do Battleworld and all of that, heck they couldn't even do it the way it was done in the 90's animated series without this movie being like 4 hours long. I appreciated the simplistic way they went about it.
- While Topher Grace was all wrong as Eddie/Venom, I think he did the best with that role that could've been done, I enjoyed his portrayal of the character even if it was waaaaay off from what it should've been.
- The Sandman and Venom CGI looked good at least.
Cons:
- Tobey was an average Spidey at best and a terrible Spiderman (in fairness this was a problem all 3 films had).
- Kirsten Dunst's looks spiraled over the course of the trilogy and she looked especially homely in this film.
- Gwen Stacy was introduced (which had GREAT potential) and the film did NOTHING with her.
- Too many villians. No one cared about Sandman, Venom was crammed into the last 30 minutes and I dunno what the hell they were trying to do with Harry in this thing.
- Harry's amnesia. Yea I know this is technically a story from the comics but in the comics it had time to develop over months and years, this time it was crammed into under 2 hours and it just felt really hokey and rushed. Harry has his memory, loses his memory, and by the third act he's got it back again? UGH! (And where the hell was that butler hiding the last 2 movies?)
- Unnecessary altering of Uncle Ben's killer to Sandman to make him relevant to the plot. It was insulting and a waste of time.
- Instead of Peter struggling with the darkness inside of him, amplified by the symbiote, the whole damn thing was played off for comedic effect. Emo Peter, slicked back hair, all black clothes, and ****ing jazz club dance scenes? My god, I get angry typing it, thinking about how royally they ****ed up Venom, compared to how good he could've been.
- Goblin still looked like ass (though admittedly an improvement from that power rangers knockoff crap that Norman wore in the first film).
- Characters doing idiotic **** just to create conflict. Ex: Peter (as Spiderman) kisses Gwen and then doesn't understand why MJ is upset later on.
- Random campy **** abound with no point to the plot. "How's the pie? Sooooooo good!" Seriously, wtf?!? Was this supposed to be some sort of perverted sex joke, or am I missing something? Don't get me started on The Twist!
I feel like I could keep going but I hope this answers your question. Amazing Spider-Man was at least better then 3 but still not sure what to expect in AS2.
Yes when Peter Parker all emo'd out it was retarded and gave the movie a shallowness that you couldn't over come.
There will never be a good spiderman movie until the villains are venom and carnage and it's done with a scary darkness I think the amazing spiderman crew could pull it off with a 3rd movie
