Was the OT always this political?

I can remember browsing a long, long time ago... like 8 years ago, and I don't remember as many political discussions are there are now. Has it changed, or was it always like that and my memory is wrong?

I only came to OT 4 months ago (And only started posting regualarly 2 months ago) so too the best of my knowledge..
