The battery acid should still be locked inside the battery. Let it completely dry out before you turn it on. Don't wait one or two days, wait about a week depending on the temperature.

just curious, what would happen if acid got onto your clothes. IDK what's in ipod batteries, but can't they hold lead too?

I don't think modern batteries have lead anymore. Or does it? But I assume iPod uses lithium batteries. And if acid leaks onto clothes, it will either make a big hole if it is extremely concentrated or it'll decolourise it a bit.

I left my Ipod in the wash. The trick is to wait a few days before turning it back on. I figured it was broken so I didn't even bother turning it on. But a few days later I figured "what the heck". Gave it a try and it worked fine.
