Here's a 5 minutes clip of 2012, featuring about 15 million deaths.

Holy crap. They should provide seat belts in the theatre! This is the ultimate geek movie... I love the absurdity and cheesiness of this scene!

It's worth noting that Emmerich can hold the camera steady and you can understand what's going on.

And yes, some scenes are edited out, so there are some continuity errors in this clip.

You're on the freeway and a giant doughnut rolls towards you.

What are you going to say? "Dog"? "Cupcake"?

How is saying "Doughnut!" different from saying "Watch out!" - except that it's funny in a dumb way when you think about it?

I'm sorry, but if you think more than one second at that line you realise that hey, someone might actually say that in real life:o

I was expecting a comment about "Take the freeway!", not about the doughnut...

Has to be the most stupid thing i've ever seen. Effects were terribly cheap, looks like it was filmed on a micro budget. It's just an effects spree, the plane flying through the crack in the ground with the land falling down on it dosn't even make logical sense.

Looks like the type of movie i might like. I like these end of the world things like The Day After Tomorrow and 28 Days Later and The Day the World Stood Still and War of the Worlds.

The acting was decent enough for me and the special effects were pretty good (but they didn't seem as good as the bridge scene in War of the Worlds). Unfortunately this looks like it will have quite a bit of political bias thrown in.

I guess this will be john cusack version of end of days....... But that was absolutely a large amount of series of luck. John cusacks view of the road is magnificent if he dodge all that...

I hate "close call" points in movies, where the actor gets out a split second before something bad happens(i can deal with one or two). Within those 5 minutes there must have been 20 "close call" points. Hate it.

What does that say about the both of them? Two poor-ass directors. But between the both of them I'd rather suffer through Bay's films. After watching The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla, and 10,000 B.C., Emmerich to me is just godawful.

And how is he after watching Stargate, ID4 and The Patriot?

Emmerich is a lot better than Bay. He knows how to shoot a movie, while Bay is only an expert in advertisments. Both are very skilled when it comes to practical effects and CGI, but Bay simply can't shoot anything else. Emmerich has coherency and clarity, and keeps the camera steady.

He's just an entertainer specialised in simple popcorn flicks - those are his own words, he's not an aspiring artist like Bay. This is his last disaster movie though.

Stargateand ID4 was okay, but those movies were made over 10 years ago. And I haven't seen the Patriot. What he did with Godzilla was a travesty, The concept of Day After Tomorrow was to hokey for me, even by mindless popcorn flick standards, and 10,000 BC just mad me so angry that I'd still can't believe I wasted 2 hours on that. But like I said, these are just my opinions.

Hallenbeck - you should see The Patriot. It's from the writer of Saving Private Ryan.

There are almost no 'splosions and CGI. It's just a good old fashioned melodramatic war story.

I pity those that can't appreciate a movie only because of its visual element - which is the most important - and always need an Oscar-level story as a hook.

Also its a shame John Cusack is wasting his talent here, he is a really good actor when he picks good roles. The only Roland Emmerich film that was close to being good was Stargate, and thats because of Kurt Russell. His other stuff bores me.

It was one of those movies I put on the back burner to watch if only for Mel Gibson; I just never got around to seeing it.

I would watch this movie on one condition, that there would be only five minutes of character interaction and the rest dedicated to crap getting destroyed. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen. They lure you in with promises of death and destruction only to spend eigthty percent of the movie on mediocre family love crap. If I'm going to go see a movie and turn my brain off, I at least want to get what I paid for.
