Only if you want to compare the two and appreciate how much better the book is compared to the movie.

Yes. I would assume so. You'll get much more out of it. The movie has been criticized for being 'too true to the source material'.

If you've read it, you'll know they couldn't possibly fit all of it in the movie's time slot. I'd highly recommend reading the novel first.

I have heard that it helps, but that the movie is such a faithful adaptation that you don't need to be familiar with the comic at all to get what's going on. Or to enjoy the movie, which is good also.

And that is cut from 190. They did try to fit in as much as they can , but stuff clearly had to be cut.

From what I've read, the movie is enjoyable on its own but it's more enjoyable if you read the comic first.

If you remove the Back pages from the watchmen, i bet i could read the whole thing in 3 hours. 2.5 hours is a LONG film, You can do a lot, character development is the only worry i find when they have gone book to film, but the watchmen characters are failry clear cut, rorscharch and Manhattan are the only one's who may take a bit of understanding IMO.

I can feel a lot of rage coming my way for suggesting watchmen characters arn't complex lol, Im just saying there not hard to understand.
