So what current book are you reading and how do you like it so far? I just finished Skeleton Crew by Stephen King last week, which was excellent and today I started reading Under the Dome which is his latest work. So far it's very interesting, though it is a daunting 1000 pages so I hope things pick up as I get a little further into it.

I'm re-reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Each book is around 800 pages. I'm on book seven, but unfortunately, it's taken me about three weeks to get there. Awesome series.

I really want to read that. I just saw the movie two weeks ago and it was a total mind**** of a film, which is my favorite type of movie.

I'll see the movie if I like the book. Watching a movie based on a book before reading the book ruins the experience of reading the book nine times out of ten, I find.

American Creation by Joseph J. Ellis. Once I get through that I have A Country of Vast Designs by Robert Merry to finish.

To be totally honest, I didn't know it was a book until I saw the film. Martin Scorsese is one of my favorite directors though, so that's why I was originally even interested in the movie. Well, I can say if the book follows the pattern of most books being superior to their film adaptions, then you are in for a great story, even if it is slow at first.

Just started reading 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett. I'm finding it interesting and well written, but I'm only about 30 pages in.

Before that I re-read 'Pirate Latitudes' by Michael Crichton, it's such a good book, and I love his writing so much. When I read it, I feel like I'm eating beef with my eyes

Another book I've been in the middle of for the past year and a half is Eldest by Christopher Paolini. Can anyone tell me if the book, and series, gets any better cause I have been stalemated at the halfway marker by a very slow, drawn out, and quite lackluster book. I was a big fan of Eragon, but only cause of the potential it showed. I don't want to keep forcing myself through it if its not going to get any better.

Hmm.. Well, doesn't look like they are going to adapt either of the other two books to film, so I guess I'll just have to suck it up and blow through Eldest this week. When I am reading with purpose, I can pretty much zoom through a book in about a day.

I read Eldest in three days, and so far, that's the fastest I've ever read a book.

I think the fastest for me was either Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix or Swan Song. OotP was over 800 and I read it in a day and a half. Swan Song was 986 pages and I read it in two days.

Eldest almost put me into a coma...

I just ordered The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. After watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I simply can't wait for the sequel to reach blu-ray. Until that arrives though, I am reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I want to go through it again before the movie. :P

Have you read Under the Dome? I'm about 5 chapters in and it's pretty grisly and mysterious so far. It really has a Lost feel to it cause there's a bunch of weird ass **** going on and nobody knows wtf is happening.

Yeah I read it when it first came out. I liked it, but I'm not in the camp who thinks his new works aren't any good. It's really long but it actually comes off as actually needing that length unlike certain authors who spend 2 pages describing the drapes with purple prose.

I didn't realize people didn't like his newer works.... I've read Cell, which was really good, but tbh I've only recently been getting into King. His type of writing didn't use to appeal to me for some reason so it was difficult for me to get into his books. Plus he has a LOT of great film adaptions for his books so I used to just watch all those.

The were recommended to me, and I got the first four, I think. I read the first and made it partway through the second. It just seemed like there wasn't really a whole lot going on. I'm going to try to get back to them and start the series over one of these days, but I'm busy with The Sword of Truth series now, and I need to read The Wheel of Time series from start to finish as well.

I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Just read past the verdict at the end of the trial. And no, I didn't buy the 50th Anniversary Edition like everyone else. This is copy is from 1974. :)

Under the Dome is on my wishlist. It does look quite long. I'll have to have a few short books ready to read either side of it, to remind me that I can finish a book in less than a month. :P
