I'm starting a weight loss support union to try to help myself, and others, lose weight.

I am starting this union because I'm trying to lose weight and I realized I need some support to help keep me motivated. I figure there are a lot of others on this forum that could also use a little help to lose some flab.

Post here or send me a pm if you would like to join.

I want to gain weight in bone and muscle mass. If I lost anymore weight I'd probably be a skeleton.

I think that union should be created too. Gain muscle/mass is just as easy as losing it...You can do it. Trust me!

I need to lose a few pounds. I exercise, and I eat healthy, but then I sabotage it by eating a lot of junk in little spurts between the healthy stuff. It's all about self-control. If I can put down the bleeping chips, or not have seconds on the pasta, I will be alright.

No offense but I won't be joining. If I can't lose weight on my own, what good'll some strangers do on a board I will never visit?

PS: Do eat fish (or fish pills), do cardio AND weight training, and do not eat soy if you're a guy. I made that mistake.

Food is my downfall too. I don't have a problem keeping up the motivation to keep up my work outs - I enjoy those. Beer and the wrong food is just far too tempting to me. Still, I've lost 17lbs over the last few months so it's generally going in the right direction.

I lost 30 lbs. this summer! Was getting up there in the 2-hundy club and needed to cut some weight big time. The hardest part is keeping it off now.

I'd join. I started p90x about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. My problem is eating right. I have motivation to do the workouts, just not eat as healthy as I should. Anyone have any good diet programs or books (or something like that to easily follow)?

There is a lot of stuff out there on the web about eating healthy. I'm pretty sure P90X even comes with a nutrition guide. Even if you *ahem* got p90x by other means than buying it, you can still find the nutrition guide on the web in pdf form. But there is plenty of other information on the web out there.

A good rule of thumb is to shop around the edges of the supermarket... you know, not down the isles. Try to stay away from all of the pre-packaged stuff. The edges of the supermarket is where the fruits are, the veggies, meat, milk, yogurt, etc is. Another thing to do is substitute your whites for wheat. If you're going to make a chicken wrap or something, then use whole wheat tortillas. If you are going to eat maybe a bagel and a banana for a snack, then eat a whole wheat bagel. Whole wheat pasta, etc. Knowing what to eat really isn't that hard.

C'mon, you know you are supposed to eat fruits, veggies, and lean meats. The hardest part is sticking to it, because I will be the first to tell you that it is not easy. It is much easier to stick a frozen pizza in the oven than to prepare a healthy meal. But, it gets easier the more that you do it and becomes second nature.

I'm already working on it. I've started exercising and I've since went from 180lbs to 186.. Meaning I gained 6 pounds of muscle or so. Give it a few weeks and I'll start cutting off the fat!

Nope. I'm always going to big, even if it's not weight wise. I'm 6'6" and weigh about 390ish. My current scale only goes up to 330 but I ordered a new scale that goes to 400.

Oh another thing. I played two years of college football and while I was there I went from 435ish to 367. In the first month I was there I lost 25 lbs so I know I can do this. I'm pretty sure I have gained some weight back though since I'm done playing football now. I'll find out the damage when I get my new scale in a few days.

Yeah, I got P90X from *ahem* other means. I stay away from pre-packaged meals and eat a decent amount of fruits and vegetables. I am not a big fan of wheat bread though, but I should probably try eating it more instead of white. I'm not in terrible shape or anything, but mostly I am not conditioned like I was in high school. I am about 5'7" or so and about 175 lbs. at 22 years old. So I am slightly overweight for my height but I am not obese or anything. Just trying to get healthier and leaner.

The world supports weight loss. I'm tired of everything being "fat free" or "diet" or sugarfree" (which is worse for you, because the artificial sweeteners are basically chemicals). Then there's the numerous "Weight watcher" things around. So it should be pretty easy.

I weighed about 232 pounds back in April, and down to about 188-189 right now. Hoping to get down to about 170-175 in a month and a half - two months which should make me pretty lean. From there I want to start going to the gym to bulk up and add 7 or 8 pounds of muscle to my frame.

I've been a little bit chubby all my life, and even when I started trying to lose weight I thought it was hopeless. But surprisingly, once you get into the groove it couldn't be any easier. Just exercise and eat right, no shortcuts.

Edit - Oh yeah, and you can send me an invite.

I was 80 kilograms, went to 50, because i didn't have anything better to do than to starve myself i guess. Now i got 15 of those kilograms back in two months. Weight loss is a lost cause imo, that weight always comes back. Sooner or later you're gonna release and when that happens you wont be able to stop yourself from eating everything you come in contact with.
