Hell ya, my parents use to beat my ass if I did something out of line. No like literally punch me in my face or anything of that nature, but my ass hurt aftward. Too bad you can't really do that anymore because some how children have rights above their parents and can call dss everytime they feel they were mistreated.
I was...and I learned not to do it again. I was actually like...literally beat with a belt on the butt sometimes. Bruises and all. But hey, it was just my father trying to set an example. It certainly worked.

I don't think raising children using violence as a threat to noncompliance is a good approach.
I do, I think a nice wack in the behind teaches them a lesson. I don't think taking away their psp or games really teaches them a lesson anymore.
There are other ways than taking away their PSP ;)
True but when I got spanked there was a new fear in me that would not let me back talk or do anything stupid. I look around these days and seeing kids swear at their parents and being spoiled rotten because they don't get spanked. I bet if you gave them a good beaten they wouldn't do anything stupid again.

As a kid? Getting my ass whopped, **** thrown at me, insults, taunts, starvation, etc. I learned to respect my elders way early when most of the kids were learning their first words.
I really don't remember. My parents say they never did but I vaguely recall them doing it rarely.
Spanking is negative reinforcement and unless it is sexy spanking shared between two adults then it should not be used as "punishment" since it doesn't actually "punish" the child, it just tells them that violence solves problems. "Punishing" a child involves removing a privilege and telling them why they were wrong. It's no wonder children are so disrespectful these days, they were never punished as young children for doing wrong because their parents didn't understand that they could punish them without resorting to violence.
I got spanked a few times. It never really did anything for me, I was able to take the pain of a belt, so parents stopped it because it didn't change anything. I think people shouldn't do it though. In my opinion, it's cruelty.

hell its the best approach, Its always been a pain in the ass seeing the Maury show when they have those bad kids on and all the mother does is cry whern they do sumtin bad. Give those kids my mother or grandma and they wouldnt even question anything

What approach would you suggest?.....my parents giving me a good beating sure straightened me out.....I think as long as its nothing too serious its a fine approach.
Like once or twice... I think it made me better becuase I never did those things again :P. The Wooden Spoon was the weapon of choice those one or two times...
Yeah, a few times. Nothing ever ridiculous. And it was only when I did the most messed up things, like got into some real trouble. But it wasn't too often, and I turned out fine.
I was spanked, slapped, and backhanded whenever I disobeyed or was very disrespectful towards my parents. In my case it was completely ineffecient, I would beg my parents to spank me instead taking away my entertainment/social life. I'd take a backhand to the face over being grounded for a week anyday when I was younger.
