If I wanted something when I was a kid, there were 3 responses:

  1. Go make some money
  2. Wait until Christmas
  3. No, those magazines are for grown-ups

I'm not. I'm 18 now and I've had a job since I was 15. Really the only thing my parents buy for me now is food and clothes, if I need new ones. I didn't buy my car, but neither did my parents; it was my grandad's and we got his cars when he died.

I was spoiled with love and all that junk, but when it came to toys or games.. no way. I had to wait till I was out of the house to buy my first console; ps1 because they didn't want me playing video games that badly.

OH THE IRONY

I'm addicted to gaming now because I was so deprived as a child:lol:

I used to be, and then I decided that I don't need to depend on my parents to get me gifts all the time. I wanted to get the stuff with my own money, and I now prefer to earn my stuff than to get it on a silver platter.

Seeing as how, in spite of the fact that my parents make a fair bit of money, I had to work to earn my possessions (yes, even Christmas and birthday presents required me to do things like clean my room, mow the lawn, wash the baseboards, or clean the walls of the house) and I never had any money that wasn't earned through quite a bit of labor, and many of my chores were unpaid as well, I feel that I wasn't particularly spoiled.

Nope. I've always been considerate about my family's finances and almost never asked my parents to buy me anything (after the age of 6, anyway).

I'd say a little at least. Whatever way it worked out, my parents earn slightly more money relative to most of my friends parents, but we can't afford to go on holidays. But I still get a decent amount of cash off them.

I should have been spoiled as my dad is a GP but no, I had to be taught the "value of money". They are savers though so in 40 years or so the inheritance will kick in.

I had to pay for luxury items like games, DVDs and CDs myself. Over the course of three years I have bought myself; a xbox 360 and 8 or 9 360 games, my PC which cost in total with monitor and peripherals about £750 (Bought a crappy £300 Acer thing and upgraded and bought a £225 monitor) and about 25 games for it and most recently I spent £450 on a new 32" HDTV and surround sound system.

All with money from a paper round I've had for the past three years as I don't have the time for a proper job and doing a paper round is only like an hour and a half seven days out of a fortnight for £40 a fortnight.

when I was a child? definitely. right now? probably. My parents own a huge-ass house, I get books for free, and they send me to private schools. but its a good thing I try to be as froogle as possible (that's more than I can say about my siblings)

Yeah same. People say I'm spoiled because my parents like to buy me things when I do good at school. And I have an 88 average (which is really good in Canada), so I get stuff quite often:)

Yes and no.

I don't ever get things just because I ask.

But if I have great grades, and I've been helping around a lot, I can usually get stuff. Also, my parents usually pay for things like my lunch, fines, and other stuff. Only because I don't have a job, nor a way to get to one.

Also they are paying for my graduation fees and possibly a trip to Japan.

But again, I do what I'm told. I don't talk back, nor do I ever defy them really.

No, far from it. I did not receive an allowance. I never had a birthday party or any gifts. We did not celebrate gift giving during Christmas. I did not receive any rewards for good grades. I pay for my own tuition and living costs.

Nay, I was not. There were probably a million bills to pay and everybody in the family were doing some crazy stuff. I had to grow up at very young age and moved out when reached the age of fifteen. I think small spoiling is ok for kids...everything still has limits.

yeah I'm a little spoiled...I get more pocket money then all my friends, my parents randomly buy me gifts for no reason just to make me happy (for example like a mounth ago they got me a new bike..i am 14 and only learnt how to ride a bike a mounth ago...yet they bought me a bike for 500$...a little expensive for a first bike) also I often get random gifts from my parents as a reward for good grades or just becuase they feel like making me happy...I love my parents :)

My parents spoil me to this day -- and I make my own money now. Its cool sometimes but they do it because I'm "their baby forever" so that comes with its own baggage.

I'm 17, and I get to go on vacation every summer and winter, Last Summer I got to go to Europe with my Mom's platinum, and maxed it out. I got a silver Lexus for my 16th birthday, and I get 20-40 bucks for lunch every day, so I can go to Starbucks in the morning, and eat at a Thai restaurant across the street from my school every afternoon. Aside from that, I don't receive an allowance because I can get what I want and when I want it. I really try to act nice towards others, but I'm not the least bit generous. I'm not a brat or anything, though I am a bit snobby, I love my parents for giving me such a great life, and I'm extremely thankful. So, I would say yes, I'm spoiled.

Nope. I'm pretty far from actually being spoiled. The only times I get anything are Easter, My Birthday, and Christmas. Maybe I'm lucky to get on or two things tops a year.

Yeah, probably, but same, I am not a brat or act spoiled at all. EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think that my parents kind of providing pretty well, the more I actually feel bad and try to be as independent as possible, aka taking care of my car, buying most of my games(which I only buy like 5 games a year), when I actually do go out to eat spend my own money...ect.

Nope, not at all. Im a middle child. My older brother gets whatever he wants, and the little brother cries and gets things handed to him. So i know the drill already: Wait until your B-day, or Christmas. Its not all that bad, its only a 3 month difference from Christmas and my B-day.

Nah. We were pretty poor for most of my childhood, so I didn't get anything I wanted unless it was for a birthday/Christmas. And even then, I'd get "Well it's kind of like what you wanted."

Growing up I had it pretty good, because my parents busted their butts, but my parents always taught me hard work, responsibility, and generosity where it was due. I don't know if I was really spoiled, but I was very, very lucky.

I'm not spoiled, not as spoiled as other people I know. Example 1: My cousins and my family usually have christmas together. When we open presents(we do that on christmas eve in dk) they would usually get bigger and more expensive presents, and double the number my siblings and I got. I'd get jealous, sure, but else nothing. I never expect my parents to go all out and give me really expensive things, I'm used to having to care for myself if I want a new cd or else I have to wait for christmas/my birthday. Last christmas tho, I got something VERY expensive. A wacom bamboo tablet. 2k dkk for it. I havent used it a whole lot, but I still have it.

I wasn't really spoiled, but I did get a lot of what I wanted as a child...but I understood that you had to earn things in life and that you shouldn't expect everything to be simply handed to you.

I've always been pretty poor, but my mum always had presents under the tree, and clothes on my back, a place to sleep and food to eat.

Considering she's always put mine and my sisters wants over her own I'd say we were spoiled.

But I'm thankful for it.
