The top 5 countries are the ones with the biggest economies, not the most oil deposits. It might give them a degree of power, but it won't affect their actual influence over a nation with a larger economy and a beter military.

Iraq doesn't even influence it's own people. There are two sides in ME...Iran's side and Israel's side. And a neutral Turkey which is kinda on the Israel's side but not in bad relations with Iran.

US - i think the why is obvious

China - they have a huge cheap labor force so alot of big businesses have their factories over there, an they are also a growing political power

Japan - They have a lot of industry, it would be a big blow to consumers if Japan was to suddenly disappear

Saudi Arabia - Major oil supply, needed for the majority cars and other vehicles to run

India - They run our Telemarket centers, what would we do without them?
