Alot of pop songs. Acoustic pop songs being very easy. Surely you know some simple acoustic songs.

First song I ever learned on guitar was Sweet Dreams (Manson's cover), I'd say that's pretty easy/good for beginners.

But for super popular music, maybe the Ocarina songs in Zelda OoT

The Lost woods, just did it :D (standard tuning EADGBe)

pop and punk songs are a good way to go. I know alot of people start with Nirvana songs in particular.
