Ah yes, the American nuclear warfare policy: If it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing.

Yah, I guess that's what 30 years of the Cold War will do to ya. :P
They never will, they rely too much on the US to ever invade us.Mystery-
Or, to put it better, the US relies too much on them, so they get more money. They lose a crapload of money yif the invaded the US.

That's China's nuclear policy. Minimal deterrance. Having the minimal numbers of warheads needed to deter an aggressor. Theoretically China can make thousands of nukes but 1) too costly, 2) does not fit with its "Peaceful Rise" theory, 3) useless since the threat of nuclear war is next to nothing. Of course China was never in an arms race with another nation so it's understandable that the USA and Russia have exorbitant amounts.
1. China would lose. 2. The United States and China have interdependent economies.famicommander
no america would lose. america has everything it has from china. the country would go brankroupt in days. us army lost from a 3ed world nation in 2 wars
China doesn't need to invade America. Their attacks will come economically, and when they're ready, they will destroy our country.CheddarLimbo
yeah i agree you guys know american takes billions on $ from china a day to stay a float.

Lol, North Korea has only 10 nukes? Why's everyone so afraid of them?

What do they have to gain by doing that? They'd go down with us too. You can eliminate one of the largest markets in the world and expect your economy to remain fine and dandy. Globalization means that everyone gets affected by what happens to someone else.
Seriously people, just because a country is a rising power doesn't mean that they will, much less want, to hurt us. To think that China is going to assume the role of the USSR is extremely childish.
As for the topic, here's what the results would be of any aggressive action by China on the US:
War - China gets its ass handed to it by NATO
Economic collapse of the US - The world economy, including China's, falls into a depression

You only need one, anything after that is just icing. And they have 10? Last I checked they couldn't even build a fully functional prototype.
This thread has been appearing pretty frequently...
Anyway, someone mentioned the US manufacturing everything in China so we would lose a war with them in days. However, do you really think that we would actually manufacture all of our M1 Abramses, F-22s, B2s, Strykers, and various advanced naval systems in a country that's practically a political (not economic) enemy? By that I mean they're communist (kinda), their human rights are terrible, and they support and are supported by many of our enemies (there are reports that they're sending arms to Afghan insurgents). Regardless, all of our weapons are manufactured at home or in Europe.
That same person said that we've lost to third world nations twice so far. However, we've actually been having difficulties with guerilles in those states (Iraq and Vietnam I'll assume he meant). In conventional wars, especially that which took place in Iraq, we won in weeks, but the insurgency that followed with its irregular fighting style gave us trouble. Someone needs to read up on history.
As for the actual war, advanced Western technology vs. adaptations of dated Russian arms. Sure China's no third world nation, but their technology pales in comparison to ours and numbers alone can never win. Plus, their naval power is pitiful. Plus, we've got NATO on our side, whereas China has no such alliance.
Also, as far as economy goes, those who paid attention in history will remember that the Great Depression was solved in the US because of the need for extra food, weapons, and resources. I'm by no means advocating a war to solve problems, but as long as this a discussion about war and the economy, this is an interesting point to make.
But it doesn't matter because both countries would be badly hurt economically by such a war.

Because Kim Jong Il is bat-**** crazy.
The USA will not be destroyed by any outside force. It will only be destroyed from the inside out.
Also the USA will fall when the flag wraps the cross.
China might try to invade but you have to remember as of now that the civilian population of the US is pretty heavily armed. I own about 10 different firearms my self.
