Personally I like 90s rock bands and others from the 60s to the present.

There's probably about 10 more favorites, and they're always changing, but right now, these would be the top 5.

Actually, it originated from rock. The sound may be similar, but in no way is metal a genre of rock. Not even close.

Metal IS a subgenre of rock. Contrary to what YOU may believe, there is no major distinguishing feature from rock to constitute metal as being anything more than a subgenre of rock. So it has a different name? Zydeco has a different name from folk music, but it's still considered folk music. Stop being elitist and look at the facts, metal and rock both share enough things in common to differentiate between the two.

My favourite bands are Iced Earth, Hammerfall and Blind Guardian.

however lately, i've really been into Death Metal. bands like Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Beneath the Masacre, Cryptopsy, Gojira and At the Gates.
