I'm not sure what you'd call it over in America but we call it year 11 here in NZ

and our grades are different to we have something called NCEA, i'm in level 1 NCEA

and you need 80 total credits to pass the year and so far i have 56 credits and I'm currently

studying for the end of year exams, so fingers crossed I pass

I'm on the block A/B skedule. In the 11th grade anyway...

  1. Algebra 2 - F
  2. American Literature - B+
  3. American History - A+ (it's a really easy teacher so it wasn't that hard to achieve)
  4. Symphonic Band - A
  5. Japanese 3 - A+ (yes and something I'm very proud of. Best in the class aside from the 2 native speakers...)
  6. Physics - D+ (I just suck at that class. Way too complicated)

I only see two classes that are the same, and they really aren't the same. Physics X and physics are not the same thing, and Japanese 3 is certainly not the same thing as Japanese 3 X.

Senior year of high school... 3.98 GPA, currently have a A A A A A B+, the B+ being in AP English with an extremely arrogant and self-centered teacher. It's incredible how much he favors certain people. Fortunately, it's the senior year, so I honestly don't care if I get a B in that one class.

Freshmen at my school are actually getting dumber... not just in the way they act, 64 percent of freshmen this year are failing two or more classes. It's ridiculous, I think people are actually de-evolving :(

But anyway, I'm in 12th and have something like a 3.5 core, and 2.4 electives (because of my damned elective math ****).
My grades are something like:

Senior Seminar: B

Math: D-

Government: B

Art: A

English: A-

I think you grossly over estimate the difficulty level of honors (accelerated in your vernacular) and AP courses. I, myself took AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP US History, AP Literature, AP Language and Composition and other honors courses and I didn't find them horribly difficult. On the AP Exams I got all 5s except for a 4 in Statistics. My point is that there is no need for elitism. I am convinced many people are capable of achieving the same thing if they sit down and do the work. I find character is a more important determinant than intelligence.

Year TWELVE?...last time I checked that was the first year of post-school/college. Schools only go up to year 11 and the GCSE's end there...I thought.

It must be different in other parts of the UK. I live in Northern Ireland and here the first year of High School is year 8 (about 11 years old). :|

Year 11 is the first year of GCSE and Year 12 the second.
