What are your thoughts about India, the country?

... just want to know what people think of India these days.

So, what're your opinions on India, as a country?

Btw, whatever your opinions are, just remember to be civil. I mean, even if you DO want to criticise the country, do so whilst maintaining some civility. I don't want to be moderated for inciting flaming or something.

South Asian food is great. They neighbor my home country, so it is likely very poor in some areas and very nice in others. That's as much of an opinion I have.

It is really inconsistent depending on which part you ar in. Once i stayed in a pretty grand hotel when i went there with my dad, service is great with limousines everything. And inside the hotel grounds, it was pretty awesome. But once you step out, ohh boy, its like a different world altogether.

Lots of poverty, streets are dirty and near impossible to walk. You have people pestering you for money if they know youre a foreigner.

Of course, this is just speaking from experience, ive been there twice.

Dirty, i have seen a load of programs about people who live in india and its a rubbish heap. They think that the rat's are people who have died and have come back so they feed them and give them milk. They showed this one guy drinking out of the same bowl! no wonder why there are soo many deaths over there. Even if someone game me a free plane ticket i wouldn't go, it just doesn't do anything for me. Sorry if i offended anyone thats just my views on the place. Well most westerners will probably say butter chicken but I need hotter than that. I like my beef vindaloo and I always ask for them to make it super-hot. I usually have to because they see me come in and probably start thinking 'this lil white boy, he couldnt handle the hot stuff'. I know coz there's been times where I've gotten a good vindaloo and then times when it's been way too mild for my liking. But yeh, I'll eat just about anything you can get from any Indian take-away place in my area. Luckily, there's a decent sized Indian community where I live so there's plenty to choose from.

Never been there and know nothing of the place.. soo I have no thoughts on it.

They make awesome chicken. Holy crap! Not only that, but their curry is so tasty!

I'm going on whim now. Just letting you all know. But I think India is a country of people doing stuff. Lots of stuff. So much mind boggling stuff that it boggles the mind.Wilfred_Owen

Never been there but their food is great.

It's often portrayed as a country that's full of narrow streets and beggars, so it's hard for me to judge the country itself. There are a lot of hindu temples that are simply breathtaking to look at. Hindu art is also very beautiful.

I was born there and lived there for 5 years before moving to America. Yeah, people have bad opinions about it, but for the most part, I love India. It's a great Country.

Great food, great history, Indian people the most clever people along with the Japanese.

Overcrowded and dirty cities, poverty, women treated badly, casts, etc..

But great doctors and IT workers.

Their people + western clothing style/make up = hot chicks.

Cool place. The only area on the planet that is home to the world's oldest living religion and has a majority of the population living like they did 2500 years ago. Definitely want to go there in the near future.

There are a lot of people there. And I less than three naan dipped in curry.

Whenever I think of India I always think of slumdog millionaire i.e, the narrow streets, theft etc.

Also have a pretty decent cricket team atm.

You can get fried horse brain stir fry on flat bread off the side of the street there. Whats more awesome than that?

I'm ethnically 50% Indian, so I guess I'm obliged to like it :P
