There is alot of controversy with south park right now, what are your thoughts on it all, the Death threats, the censorship, the episode itself
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I'm pissed at the Islamic neo-fascists that caused it, and I'm pissed at Comedy Central for being a bunch of pansy ass little *****es and actually censoring it.
People complain about EVERYTHING
its not like we want to kill white people or jewish or anybody because south park made fun of them
seriously, the world needs to cool it
Meh, not a regular watcher of the show. But it does seem to take a lot out of South Park that makes it... South Park.
I thought the whole two-parter was honestly lackluster; the only redeeming part of the story itself was the subplot about Cartman's dad. The rest of it was a snoozer as far as I could tell.jalexbrownYeah but it was cool the way they tied pretty much every episode (every good one anyways) from the show together in one pretty neat story. The whole censor thing is annoying.

Yeah the actually story was complete bull overall. the Tom Cruise gay jokes did get pretty tired fast. Even the Cartmans dad plot petered out about 1/2 through episode 2. But it was still ok. Nowhere near as good as the episodes in his series so far but still ok.
I felt the same way you guys did, except my friend who is Muslim explained to me that in Muslim religion you aren't supposed to show or display Muhammad in in any way, so when they were flaunting him about on the show, they got pissed. I can understand that. I'm pretty sure in Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judaism, they show Jesus, Krishna, and Budha plenty so it doesn't really matter as much.
South Park just sucks in general.
criinok
This too. The show is not funny, give or take a few episodes. It makes sense why the people who like it generally are all under 25 years old.

Actually the show is pretty good, the movies are also great, but you have to look beyond all the grotesque aspects of the show, the humor is crude but is way better than anything made by Seth McFarlane.[QUOTE="SilentSoprano"][QUOTE="criinok"]

Mine is that the show is bad, you aren't gonna change my mind sorry. Also, why do you even bring in Seth McFarlane? I never said Family Guy or AMerican Dad were good.
I'm not trying to change your opinion but yours seems to be part of the minority, and I mentioned McFarlane because he tries to be edgy but fails misserably. That's your opinion. Comedy Central exercised their free speech by censoring it.
If you have a problem with that, perhaps you should exercise your free speech by sending a letter to Comedy Central, and then refusing to watch anything on Comedy Central.
I think Comedy Central sucks. What they did to the last episode was ridiculous.

So Boycott them.
Don't ever watch Comedy Central again, don't ever watch South Park again (as long as it's still on Comedy Central).
If enough people do this, then Comedy Central will stop doing what they did.
In light of the death threats, it was the right move by Comedy Central. They would have been in deep deep trouble if something had happened to Trey and Matt. They end up taking the blame and hate from the viewers but that ensures that South Park can continue to air. I did wish they would intentionally leak the uncensored episode, though. I thought the bleeping of the last scenes were unnecessary.
In my opinion and I imagine this will be Matt and Trey's response to this whole thing aswell, is that people of any religion will happily sit down and laugh at South Park mimic another religion, but as soon as their own religion is ridiculed they complain. So it doesn't make them any better really.
Some people need to realise that it is just a cartoon.
I agree with you. Compared to other animated shows its still funny and has not been significantly dumbed down with some intelligent plot and morales.South park continues to be the best animated show on TV. The two parter episode was good but it wasn't their best by far. South park is one of the few series that gets better with age.

guys, even though I do think they are taking it far (the threats) I can understand why they are being offended, ok Jesus, Buddha, any oher religious figure, theyve been picture in paintings, books, etc.. now Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was never pictured by the muslims, so you can see why its touchy guitarshr3dd3r
No one misunderstands why muslims are offended. What I am sick of is the fact thats its only the muslims that think its OK to issue death threats when they get offended.
The decent, law abiding muslims need to first, stop defending these radical idiots in your religion. Second, start speaking out vigorously against this element in your religion that thinks its OK to force the rest of the world to tip toe around your religious sensibilities or you might get stabbed on the street (Theo Vangough) or blown to hell by some homicide bomber trying to get his 72 virgins.
I frankly don't care about any religion's so called sacred figures and I have no intention of changing my behavior to accomodate any of them. Muhammand can get ripped on just like any other religious sacred cow whether peace be upon him or not.

Exactly, most of America is not Muslim, and I want to see that last episode uncensored and if that hurts Muslims feeling, well that's too bad, don't watch it. And for sure don't support some radicals who want to kill Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
This whole south park issue makes me sick I saw the episode and its not even remotely offensive (especially when compared to other things they do.) These people are not just way too sensitive, but they also take to any excuseas to further "demonize" western (CULTURE???). I hate the fact that we as americans are decidingtoforegoour rights to free speech on our own soil. I say screw them. I have every right to blasphemize against MUHAMAD, JESUS, XENU, and all the other deites that could be thought of.
Why should we be so politicaly correct in our own houses. I understand that if I were walking down the streets of bahgdad or tehran out of courtesy to the hosting country Id respect their ways. but damn it, here in our own soil, they intend to tell me I should fear their response to offense..FFFFUUUU###$#$$ YOOOOOOOUUUUUUU..... GO take your radicalist terrrorrist as$ somewhere else.
I hate to sound like some over patriotic steriotypical "Red Blooded American" but thats how it makes me feel. Every day my dislike for these type of issues grows even more. Its gotten to the point where im past the "cant we all just get along" phase.
Any group who threatens peoples lives over their beliefs can go **** themselves.
Soulless pieces of ****.
i think its pathetic that people have nothing else better to do then continue to discuss it.
this includes myself for even clicking this threat i suppose.
