What background makes a great villain

Like the topic states.

I say a visionary who wants a better world and also someone who always gets their ways.

Anything but the loved one, always hated that. However, at the same time, I like the 'greater good' kinda theme, like with Revolver Ocelot.

Dr.Doom is a great example for great villain and he even built a time machine. :D

The generic Windows one with the green fields and blue skies. That'd drive anyone nuts.

The one who replaces his arm with the arm of someone other dude, which in turn changes his personality to be that of whoever's arm he attached, thus making him double the bad guy. :|AAllxxjjnn

Does it for fun, but isn't a complete ass.

Visionary, especially since I just finished a game where the villain was a visionary. Surprisingly good plot there.
